It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

I'm pretty sure yes.

I'm sure they don't check specifically for it, but they can. People have been known to get IP bans. I once inserted an alt into a spamming group to keep an eye on them. Shortly after they accepted the account, Achronos found out about the group and dissolved it. My alt was permabanned and this account was IP-banned for several weeks.

I'm pretty sure no, which is why there are so many dual accounts running around B.net. Most people have a dynamic IP's, not static. So I don't see how you could track someone using a different email and ID.

That's because you had both account linked, and obviously if you're using the same name. But how could Bungie connect two different accounts with different email addresses, ID names with neither linked to a GT?

» Sincerely, Dan

They most likely keep a record of your IP history and could match it up against another account. Though there is the issue of dynamic IP address though.

Yes they can.

If Achronos wanted to, he could look up your IP range. This would abolish the non-static IP discussion.

arin.net - whois lookup tool, very easy

Also most forums have a feature where the admins can search for all users on a certain IP address.

I'm so good at Halo, Chuck Norris has me as an avoided player.

I just heard about a guy who got permabanned, then created a new account. He said he was PMing on his forum-banned one, signed in on his new account, and got banned.

Hello.

Yes, as I have heard of people who have been banned on various accounts.

  • 03.18.2008 2:33 PM PDT

MAJOR IMP4CT/greg m.

They can IPlog but they do not log every person, from what i understand. Because if you have 2 xboxs at once house chances are you use the same Router(ip adress) so you will show up as the same IP. So they dont just look for people with Matching IPs. I have never heared of Xbox banning someones IP (So you can never access XBL through your IP unless it changes) But If you do Create Multiple Cheating Accounts Bungie Will ban your Eeprom. Which Stops ALL xbox live trafiic through your xbox, which means your xbox will no longer be able to access XBL. Lame but heared it happenin to cheaters :/

how happy is a midget likely to be once you start melting cheese on them?

(O : o)=GTI=W====(o : O)

well i think they can match an XBOX number to an account and if an account has the same # as another then they can tell that 2 accounts are on that XBOX. They really have no way of telling if you or a friend is playing though

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

There's no reason to. Microsoft can bar an entire console from connecting to Xbox LIVE, forcing the person to cope or buy a new console. The latter giving them more money.

  • 03.18.2008 3:40 PM PDT

I'm sure it's possible, perhaps by keeping an IP history or something.
