Man, I just started playing Halo PC about a month ago and started playing on line about 2 weeks ago. Something that I have noticed, that I don't quite get is all the complaining.

Examples of what I'm talking about:

1. Last night I'm playing BG CTF. I get a good sniper position against the red base (you know that tunnel opening) and start taking out their defenders with the SR. I get called a -blamming- camper. So it's okay for their guys to use the hog's weapons to destroy our guys coming in, but it's not okay for me to pick those guys off from a concealed location. Gotcha.

2. A dude takes someone out with a RL he's a newbie, regardless of how many people he owned earlier in the game with a pistol, shotgun, or even energy pistol. Gotcha.

3. Someone uses a vehicle to kill someone, they are cheap. Yeah, maybe they are, but hey... that's just the way it is. Get a RL and take them out, or snipe them. You have to admit it is awful satisfying to plant a sticky on the guy in the Banshee or take him out with a pistol from behind.

I'm not going to go on because the only thing worse than a complainer is a someone complaining about complaining. (There I beat you to it.)

Point, is I think if you just play the game and the cards you are dealt then you have no reason to complain. Amongst the few people that I've played with the best players rarely seemed to complain about how they were killed because they'll just turn around and give it back twice as hard. The real weiners complain and throw a fit and then leave the game.

Hope I'm not coming across like a jerk. Just wanted to get that one off my chest. If someone thinks that I'm wrong about this I fully expect to get flamed or whatever.

No, you are right! If these people don't like it, why are they playing at all?

They're just looking for an excuse as to why someone is pwning them. Laugh back or, better yet, ignore it. Wait, even better, find a more friendly server. They DO exist.

agree entirely. if you need more proof, i'm trying to get a new offical law of gaming enacated:
it's called 'The first law of halo'
The First Law of Halo:
For any stratagem you can come up with in halo, there is an equal and opposite counter-strategy that will pwn you.

Heyyo,

Well, most people hate that sniping stuff cause it's called 'spawn camping'. Sure, sometimes I spawn camp a bit too, but usually after 3 guys I run away to the hill infront of their base, and so they have time to gather guns, etc... and if they come after me? hey, your own fault. ;)

Most people who use rl's and fuelrods, I think most people can back me up, are people who can only kill with that. I myself think the greatest guns in Halo are the pistol and shotty since they require quite a bit of skill to use. Most people just use a fuel rod as a close range weapon, so explosive, rapidfire, and high ammo counts? err... at least the rl's more fair.. slow fire rate, long reloads, small ammo count. If you can pwn with a rl quite a bit, especially at medium/long ranges? you probably deserved to pwn with that gun.

Vehicles in general aren't cheap, it's just some tactics... well, the tank's pretty annoying but usually pretty easy to kill as long as they don't spawncamp.. I think that's the worst prob with halopc, you should spawn in with some extra shields or invunerability for 1-3 seconds, cause I see lots of spawnkilling...

anywho, banshees are cheapest vehicles. It's a flying ghost with a fuelrod attached... actually, the banshee's even more accurate than the poor ol' ghost, and the ghost is just limited to the ground. They should've made the banshee less accurate and the ghost more to at least even out the vehicle playing field. I usually don't use a banshee, but if I do I mainly use them as transports, then leap inna hog. Running people over inna banshee just ain't as fun as making them roadkill, plus killing with a hog is harder.. adds to the challenge. ;)

So usually not everything's cheap, it's just how you use them. So try to keep this in mind, don't do too much spawnkilling, give them a change to at least get somewhat sorted out, or else if you spawnkill too much, people tend to get agravated and quit... so that's another thing to keep in mind...

This is a RETICULE, and that is a RETICLE. I'm using the latter to aim. And what are you using?

Heyyo,

*** all the stuff ThE_MarD said ***

Totally right, man. I don't mind getting pnwed by someone with pistol or SR, but I freak out on FRG n00bs and plowsharing banshee whores. And I totally agree that most (not all) people using the FRG as their only weapon are total n00bs unable to hit anything at all with any other gun (sometimes not even the RL). But I also have to say that I've played a few people who owned you with the pistol, and used the FRG against groups of enemies inside their base simply b/c it's faster and more effective. Nothing wrong with that.

But a guy who can't even hit me with the pistol while I am NOT MOVING OR SHOOTING BACK then uses the FRG to go on a killing spree simply pisses me off instantly and utterly. Especially annoying are those FRG n00bs on Sidewinder who have to rely on someone else skilled with the SR to clear their path into the enemy base via teleporter, so they can rain the green n00b plasma onto those spawning inside the base.

Banshee whores used to piss me off the same, especially those who don't even shot but run you over right away. If I see them come, though, they're dead - best weaponry on Death Island is pistol + shotgun or SR + shotgun. I still remember a game where I kicked the host of the game out of his shee solely with the SR (ran out of pistol ammo before), while he was trying to run me over. After some hits he tried to escape and fly away, but I got him before he could dive into a tunnel. Well, I got kicked from the game for that, but I felt sadisfied.

Personally, I don't use the FRG a lot. If I do, I use it either for supression fire against groups of enemies, or to take out vehicles. And the shee is only a transport vehicle for me, and I don't run people over. I may get shot out of the shee that way when I could have easily survived without a scratch if I had ran over that guy from behind, but that why I die with honor.

Heyyo,

CSS:

- Messed Up Hitboxes
- Guns too acurate for full auto
- Sniper's are still too easy, no sniper sway (and this game aims for realisim, lol..)
- You can still fall from tall ledges and land in small puddles of water and take no damage (yeah, cause in real life, puddles absorb your fall even from 100 story high buildings, lmao)
- Many people flame on this "oh lag" or "he's hacking"
- LOTS of hackers on this since VAC (Valve Anti Cheat) system ain't compatible with the source engine yet...
- No recoil
- Most players are little 12 year olds who bought hl2 cause it's the newest game they could see on the shelf, and have never even played CS, Especially HL1...
- Pretty much CS:CZ just with newer graphics and physics.
- Since lots of kids play CSS now, lots of flamers... especially the ones with mics... (thank god for mic muting... lol)

Now, CS 1.6:
- Hitboxes work right
- Guns are useless in full auto (like real guns..)
- Guns have recoil
- VAC works, so odds of hackers are few (well, on the good servers)
- Cheatind Death (another anti cheater system)
- Most players have probably played HL1, and most players are older teens (thank god... most of the kiddies moved onto CSS)
- Most of the skilled players are still in CS 1.6

Right now, HaloPC is on par with CSS. Lots of inexperienced players, instead of hitboxes it's leading shots, and it's not guns too accurate, it's the guns that require just a lack of skill to use them... (FRG)

Get Marathon Here
Get Marathon 2 and Infinity Here

Ah, yes, I must confess that I am the paramount spawn camper with the SR, headshot after headshot after headshot........from the cliffs, from my base, from a hill........I really shouldn't do it....................

and as far as behaviour is concerned, there are two Red vs Blue episodes that say it all (hint: the ones where they all get separated in the teleporters)

Why not? As long as you don't come to my base armed with the FRG, all is love and sunshine.

"Haha, headshot!" - *explosion* - "Awww, you rocket whore!"
"You -blam!- camping -blam!-!" - "It's a legitimate strategy!"
"Hey!" - "Hoo!" - "Hey!" - "Hoo"
"You -blam!- took my kill!" - "I didn't see your name on it!"

Ok...I don't normally feel the need for this but I think something stern has to be said on this subject. Despite the complaining, people are forgetting they are going into this game of their own free will. The different weapons, vehicles and spawn points were all created by Bungie. If they're there, they're there to be used. Simply put, if people have found nearly every nook and cranny possible on how to criticise a game, they shouldn't be playing it. If you're that hurt and frustrated by the experience, then why bother?

I'm not all that experienced, but I can see the possible advantage of "camping" one of these spots even on CTF. The other half of the coin is not letting folks get your flag. Consider it a defensive post. You see enemy coming for your "side" of the board you kill them so they can't get the flag. They get the flag and are on there way back to the base, you kill them. In fact if you had the right spots under control and your other guys could go take the flag without worrying about the other team swiping your flag because you've got those guys in defensive positions.

I may be a rookie to Halo, but I've been playing Chess for as long as I can remember and one thing that is certain is that a good board position is more important than what pieces you have (to a certain extent of course). If your enemy takes enough good position and makes it impossible for you to succeed at getting the flag, consider yourself checkmated.

That said, I understand what you mean, but my problem is when the guys that just want the kills are on my team. It is impossible to get the flag by yourself, but if the other side is just obsessed with killing instead of getting the flag, fine by me. They can have 100 kills and if we've got 3 scores to their 0, then, "Yeah, we win."

Heyyo,

I think the best game mode in HaloPC... but the one people play the worst is assault. It clearly states "YOU'RE ON DEFENCE" yet many idiots take the rockethog I use as defence and drives off to the enemy base... nedless to say I jump out, so they go there alone, and die alone. So it's usually me and some clanmates defending... if I'm on my own? whatever, I'll carry the team. I'll get like, the 5 flag caps, I'll stop the other team, I can do the work of a whole team of fools. THAT'S how you know you're skilled. If you can constantly do the job of like, 7 people on your own? pwnage. ;)

Usually, I find the people who just bought halo, and start to finally understand the assault game mode smarter than the average not very good players... now how sad is that? One game I like is Painkiller, they said, "NO, NO CTF. That gamemode sucks." And darn toots, he's right guys. CTF was only good in Q3A, the original UT, and HL Opposing Forces. Nowadays it's team slayer with 4-10 players actually playing CTF.

My fav gamemode for fast-paced teamplay is Assault on the UT series. The amount of teamplay inna game is great. BUT, the best game for teamplay is Return To Castle Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory. OMG. That game is the BEST FREEWARE (YES! it's free too guys) game ever made. I was a medic laying down medpacks and reviving any injured players as soldiers layed down surpressing fire and a leutenant giving them ammo, and calling in airstrikes for the big concentration of enemy soldiers. We totally PWNED those allied suckers who weren't organized. The rest of the maps we played? same deal, we just kept staying organized, and just plowed the other team... this game made my day soo great! I love to play this game now, so if any of you guys wanna see some true teamplay? leap onto this game it seems the majority of the players on this game have quite a lot of skill too, so if you need extensive aiming training? this game's great for that too. ;)
