Wooo Hooo $ ten is alot of money the last time i thought that was when i was ten and thats what i got for a allowance once a month, im not rich but i not so rude as to complain about a lousy $10, and its most likly the people with money and good lobs that r complaining.

AND THATS RIGHT I SAID ITS RUDE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE COST, I MEAN COME ON
GROW UP ITS $10. and if u r a kid, and if your parents are puting out $50 a year for XBL, i think if you clean your room or help them out in some way they will buy u the maps for u even if their are $10.

Wait... now we have to wait for Lockout...

Opps, I mean "Moonlight Sonata"

You do realize Guardian was Bungie's Halo 3 rendition of Lockout, right? It's got all of the features: the green room with the shotgun, the big lift with the two recessed cavities on each side leading to the room below, the center focus of the map which has two layers, even the foggy, quiet atmosphere. There would be no point in remaking Lockout if you already have Guardian, the maps are just too similar(like Isolation and Snowbound) geometrically.

Oh, and to the post directly under me: You are a douche. Making a post that gigantic is not entertaining and it lacks a point. It's called text formatting. If you want anyone to actually consider your writing as coherent thought, you need to apply that.

Check you my Helm's Deep Beta map and gametype variants: http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/FileShare.aspx?gamertag=TWD %20Bum

Don't forget to leave feedback for the map and gametype. I hope to change it in the future based on people's reactions to make a truly enjoyable experience.

I will bet millions of dollars that the original Sidewinder will -blam!- all over this maps face. I'm sorry, but this map just has fail written all over it. Why does Bungie insist on having man cannons EVERYWHERE!? Honestly, I'd love an answer. And why do they want more emphasis on vehicle battle and say that "Sidewinder games always ended in boring foot races and objective stalemates"? Complete and utter bull-blam!-. I played Sidewinder CTF two versus -blam!- two and it NEVER got old, boring, or stale. It was fun, strategic, and intense. Trying to stop caps or counter cap, it got very, very heated. The vehicles played their role, the passages played their role, the teleporters played their role, and most importantly the -blam!- ladders played their role. Ramps over ladders? Really Bungie? I know you haven't put ladders in a game since H1, but maybe thats just another reason why H1 kicks the -blam!- out of the other 2, H3 more specifically. And trust me, I've played this map more than enough to know what I'm talking about. 3 seasons of CAL and 4 of TWL Halo PC along with pugs and pubs has certainly given me more play time on the original Sidewinder than probably a good number of Bungie employees. Seriously, why would you ever think the tunnels is where the actions concentrates? If anywhere, it concentrated on the teleporter cliffs. Sniper battles from either the 2nd level of the bases to the cliffs or cliff to cliff was probably the most concentration, but there really wasn't one spot you could pinpoint as being the biggest center of activity. You had to utilize all of your options (warthog, teleporters, tunnels) to effectively work the map.

Basically, adding a -blam!-load of vehicles and mancannons doesn't do any justice to a previously excellent map. Sure, I haven't played it yet, but I can guarantee it won't feel anything like Sidewinder, and to call it a successor or inspiration is just a discredit to a classic. I don't get why it is so difficult for Bungie to simply remake maps. IF IT ISN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT! First Hang 'em High and Derelict, then Lockout, then the BR and pistol, now Sidewinder. Simply sad.

wow....... you said it man FIGHT THE POWER (i am taking you seriously maaan)

  • 03.19.2008 1:04 AM PDT

I know its lame to complain before the map is out... but I always loved sidewinder's inner corridors for the very fact that they made the games take so long. 3 hour CTF matches were incredible and epic. We would even take out all the vehicles so the game was very slowly paced and very deliberate... Capturing a flag took a whole team effort, especially to take it all the way back to the base. Now, with vehicles as the main (read:only) focus, everything i loved about sidewinder has been stripped in avalanche. Yes, i'm sure it will be a good map in its own right, but i wish they would just remake the makes as close to the original as possible... what good is nostalgia if you change what made the map special? I hate that halo has become this super fast paced, every game has to end within 12 minutes game.... Ok, i'm done ranting, i just had to vent my disappointment.

I have one question, what ever happened to originality, whats with all the remakes.

What's the point of simply carrying over an old map into Halo 3? Halo 3's gameplay style is completely different than Halo's(more emphasis on team coordination, vehicular combat, tactical gameplay, ect), and they make changes to adapt an old map to a new game. That takes change, and for you to sit down on your ass and complain that Bungie, who is made up of professional programmers and designers(who know much more about making a map than you do) doesn't make their decisions for a reason is, to quote you, "simply sad".

All I am saying is, if they stopped console every unhappy gamer with explanations, they would have no time to do what they are paid to do: make games. It's downloadable content. You don't want it, don't download it, but wasting forum space with immature complaints without stopping to think just gets in the way of everyone else who has to see it while browsing this thread.

To the rest of you who are complaining that now you won't get to have your 3 hour CTF match, think about this: This map has to work with matchmaking, which means you have to be able to play and score the flag within that twelve minute window. You want a long game? Get creative with the gametype, mess around with weapon/vehicle placement, make this map what you want it to be. Bungie has to make sure it will work as consistently as possible, so they make the changes they make to ensure the game is fun for as many people as possible and still retains some practicality.

WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING IN THIS FORUM!

  • 03.19.2008 1:15 AM PDT

Yes! Thank you God! I love you Bungie!

I've been waiting so long for a remake of sidewinder that it's ridiculous. It's easily my favorite map of all time. I have so many fond memories of epic LAN parties. I can't wait to play multi-flag on this map.

And TheeMasterChief, I see where you're coming from because my friends and I would have huge LAN parties, and we would always play Multi-flag CTF on Sidewinder. We took out all vehicles except for warthogs, so that we could have some quick transportation if we needed it. The flag carrier often had a hard time using the warthog though because most people would be killed in the initial attack. I agree with you on the subject of 12 minute games, but it seems that most people have caught ADD and can't handle a long game. My friends and I would have 2-3 hour games on the map, and it was amazing, but it does take a tight team to make it work, so I couldn't really see it working over xbox live. At a LAN party it would definitely work, but not over xbox live.

While I may not have 2-3 hour games on this map anymore, I am looking forward to the vehicles because I always felt that they should be more prevalent in the map. I can't wait to see the chaos that ensues.

THANK YOU BUNGIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
