I risk sharing this info with you........not really
Because Shishka has far too much time on his hands.
"Ninja."
Nin is NOT the same as "No" in Japanese. Iie means no. Nai means no. Nin as a suffix means "people." Ninja is a word of its own meaning "One who endures."
Ninja were spies first, assassins second. While there is no absolute evidence of ninja amongst peasents, as the classic beliefs go, but samurai families have records of ninja (also known as shinobi, the women known as kunoichi) in their family tree. In the era in which ninja existed, Samurai would have denied this: Samurai publicly saw ninja as scum, whose acts of treachery and deception defied the doctrines of bushido, the philosophy of honor by which samurai swore.
The legendary "abilities" of ninja spring from myth, and this is by all means intentional on the part of the ninja. The use of shadow and deception made it possible to trick the enemy, convincing them they had seen things they had not.
Ninja and ninpo, the "way of the ninja," is well documented and easily researched. If you can't tell, I've done a book report or two on 'em back when I was in school.
Bungie ninja (Bunnin, or Bunji no Shinobi, as we're referred to in Japanese during our regular meetings) follow the structure put forward by the Iga and Koga clans, the two largest known clans of ninja.
The "master ninja" as you know colliqually are referred to as the jounin, the established, accomplished ninja that have been around some time, but do not have the rank of jounin are known as chunin, and our newest moderators are genin. Much like the ninja of previous era, we walk the shadows and the darkness is the only weapon sharper than the bankatana we weild.
Achronos has us in his employ, and his title is "Overlord," not ninja. I think properly we'd refer to him as Akuronosu-sama, Lord Achronos.
Unlike the ninja of lore, our mystical abilities are quite real.
You can also see what we do to our "unlucky" victims here. Poor thing, he should've followed the rules.. he could have been a little safe then..
Pain, secret islands...and the Webmaster's initiation procedure.
Being a forum ninja is cool. Fact. From getting a custom avatar to being part of the "in" crowd, those who aren't one want to be one, and those who are one want lots of money. But just how can YOU become one? Fear not, dear reader, as I uncover the truth behind being a moderator...
The path to ninjaness begins with a phone call. A gruff voice speaks, sounding vaguely simian. The voice tells you to go to the nearest airport. Tickets are waiting.
You arrive at the airport. Massive jumbo jets surround you. Luxury executive aeroplanes await. You look at your ticket, and look around until you can find it. Terminal 7. You look on in disbelief. A chair with pedals and a helicopter blade.
Eventually, you reach your destination: Hawaii. Great, you think. Then you bump it all goes black.
Later, you wake up in a cell. Naked. Wails surround you. Your heart pounds. The rest of the experience is one long blur...
After what seems like years, you wake up. Chained to your computer. Your browser only accessing bungie.net. Congratulations, your life as forum ninja has begun...
