Hey, I'm a 42 in LW... and my problem is King of the Hill and Oddball. I simply don't understand these gametypes. My strategy in Team Slayer is always a careful one... I try to not get too many kills, but get a good +/- instead. Unfortunately, this doesn't work in those gametypes, where "careful" usually puts me in last place with roughly 10 points. Do you have any advice for these in particular?
Here's a little bit I am going to go more in-depth in my upcoming Lone Wolves video. For Slayer in Lone Wolves, you better not go any higher than +2 k/d, unless your opponents are complete trash.
What I'm getting at here, is that you have to go into the action. Constantly keep running for the main focus of the fight. Be it a sniper tower, or a weapon location. While running for this objective, look around you. Chances are, your opponents will be running for the same spot, but be oblivious to everything around them. This is your chance to cut them off and get a couple kills. Be wary, if you do this too much, you'll shift the focus of the fight to you, which isn't always a good thing.
Dont sit back with a shotgun behind a corner. Chances are, the focus will shift to somewhere completely away from you, and then you'll only get a couple kills from people who spawn by you. This means that you'll probably get a couple easy kills from camping, but, your opponents will be getting the same amount or more by just going in.
Now, be aware of any snipers, but dont go too far out of your way just to kill the one. Instead, grab a BR and try to shift the focus of the fight to yourself, far away from the sniper. This will take the sniper out of the equation, thus 1 less person getting kills.
As for King of the Hill, get camo. It is your best weapon. KotH gametypes in Lone Wolves are 50% luck. You've got to tip that luck in your favor. Here's my favorite thing to do on Guardian-
Grab camo, and book it to the middle in the hill. I thing just crouch up against he side, away from combat. Now, the other idiots will be rushing in, and be getting grenade spammed. By the time the hills moves, you've gotten yourself about 30 seconds, and second place probably has like 8. Also remember where the hills move to.
When a new hill moves, and there's someone in it, dont be the first to go in there and fight for it. Let someone else. Then, once one of them die, go in and finish the other. Chance are, if you go in first and kill the guy holding the hill, someone else will be in right after you, and you'll die shamefully, and only have picked up about 3 seconds.
As for Oddball, remember that people are stupid. Everyone's main focus should be the ball, but you can play it out that they have to run into eachother first. Instinct will kick in, and they'll shoot at eachother before going for you. By the time the dust cools, you'll have one guy left who's probably weak. Other than that, just book it, and play ball when you need to. When playing the ball, make sure you do so in an area where it will take players a bit of time to get back to the ball spawn. For instance, the main floor on Construct, or bottom mid on Guardian. This will give you time to respawn before everyone has a chance at the ball.
