I'm pretty much definitely getting the headset now, which is perfect because my headphones that I use to listen to music or for private listening literally crapped out last night! I'm assuming the astro A40s work as headphones as well, correct?
Also, what TV is it that you use? My dad was talking about it today and seemed like he would possibly get it. I hate to sound like a pest but can you tell me what brand/model yours is, as well as if the model can work as a computer screen? I assume that it can't, but if it can that would work out absolutely perfectly.
Your help is mucho appreciated!
Also, what do you suggest doing to get better? I have been looking up strats on mlgpro.com and watching some of the videos and find them very helpful. What I find is that my aiming needs a lot of work. Last night I noticed while playing MLG that my aiming is very off with my BR at times. And if it's off, I suck. If I suck, I get mad, and I do poorly. I heard (I think from this thread) that someone asked a pro how to get better and he said "just play MLG". I do notice the change in skill even in the high forties in doubles vs. the 35 range in MLG that I play.
The conundrum i have is that my friends like to play MLG with me, and one of them I guess you could say is the weak leg. We actually beat a team that had a "semi pro" on it (according to my friend who i played with) 50-49 in slayer. I go to check out the stats and he went -13. It was a 3v3 and my other friend went positive and I did very well (not bragging). The point is, it seems like every match could go a lot better if we had a better teammate. He does fine on callouts but watching his individual service tag light up orange and seeing him grab the flag or push way too early has cost us MANY a game.
I tell him not to push but he gets angry. He does fine with callouts. The thing is, it's hard to tell a guy that's so firey to stay back and say "you keep dying" because he gets pissy sometimes and leaves, leaving me with his 2 cousins (who are actually good and seem capable of growing into better players). Both of those cousins know spawn times and have proven to be very useful, but are very quiet. They hardly callout.
So there's the problem. 2 of my teammates show great potential, but don't callout. They sometimes yell spawn times. The other teammate has terrible aim and loses nearly every 1v1 but calls out. What would you do here?
Sorry for the long post.
The Astro's do in fact act as 5.1 headphones. What's really cool, is that the MixAmp has an input on the back, so you can plug your mp3 player of choice in, and inject music into your game. For instance, if you plug your iPod into your 360, the 360 blocks music bought on the iTunes store. So, you wont be able to play those songs. But, if you plug it directly into your MixAmp, you're good to go. Also, there is an App. out for iPod Touch and iPhone's that is a weapon spawn timer, similar to the one at halo3timer.com, and if you plug your iPhone into your MixAmp, it will play the warnings for the weapon spawns directly into the headset!
As for your teammate, you can do one of two things. First thing is a team-wise constructive criticism. Go back through a saved film, from each person's first person perspective (this may require you to download their film), and go through the entire film in their shoes. The team should then point out things that went wrong, and what would have been an alternate way of going about the situation. Do this for each teammate.
The second thing is- drop him. If he is as stubborn as you describe, chances are, he's going to stay that way till he gets more mature. There are friends on your friends list that you play with competitively, and those whom you play with for fun. You may have to switch him to the latter group.
Yeah, I was the one who said that a pro told me "just play MLG". It really does work. If you can manage it, use MLG has your warmup playlist. Even though it shouldn't be used as so, when you dont have friends on, just go in to MLG to practice. Dont be afraid of your level dropping. Dont worry about your level in MLG.
For your callouts, you're going to have to step up and be a team leader. When my team needed help, I thought up a good practice. I would start up a game of Slayer (not team, just slayer), and make everyone go change their armor color to blue. I would change mine to red. Then, I would spawn, and my teammate's job was to call me out, and team shoot. I wouldn't shoot back, just kinda strafe, and hide behind objects. Make them move a little to get me. Since it's slayer, the spawns will allow you to spawn anywhere, so it's harder to spawn in the same place twice. Later in the practice, I'd start shooting at the other players to put some pressure on.

Heh. That depends on when Alienware decides to ship my desktop to me :)

the plasma rifle is underated by many people. It drains shields with only 4 or 5 shots so it makes it easy to get melee kills with. This also makes it a really good support weapon.
Yep. In close combat, a PR will beat an AR, as long as you go in for the melee.

To find out your screen's delay, go into the screen's settings, and look for an option called "Information". Other than that, if you were next to me, I'd slap you. No. No wireless internet allowed. a 200 foot ethernet cable will give you a better connection than a wireless one from 20 feet away. Also, I believe the Xbox 360 wireless adapter is capped off at 64mbps I believe. Your ethernet cord will at least give you 100. Wireless controller is not really too big a deal.
