I see that you put your power supply on top of your xbox. I was wondering how you deal with the heating issues of the xbox, b/c in my mind I think it looks unsafe and dangerous placing the "brick" on top of the xbox.
Yeah, sometimes when I get back from a buddy's apartment or my girlfriend's house and I bring my xbox with me, I tend to lose patience and want to play right away when I get home, so instead of running my power cord behind my desk, crawling underneath, yada yada, I instead just ran the power cord over the front of the desk and plug it in.
As for the heating issue, the Limited Edition Red Xbox 360 Elite, and systems produced shortly after, have the Jasper chipset in them, reducing heat and power consumption. They are also noticeably quieter. So overheating was never an issue. I think a big perk to working at GameStop is seeing all the Xbox 360's traded in. It's kinda habit that whenever I scan the serial number, I look at the manufacturing date as well, and of course we must test the systems.
It's fun seeing how standard it is based on how new the system is and how quiet they've gotten. (Not true for every system, mind you). But I get to see what systems have what type of power brick, how loud they are, the speed of the disk tray opening, how the system vibrates, etc. Pretty interesting. Now, this isn't to say that all newer systems are better. I hooked up my Launch (November 05) Xbox 360 Pro, my March 09 Limited Edition Red Xbox 360 Elite, and my November 09 Core, and here's how they stack up-
Nov '05- Hottest, 2nd loudest, slowest disk tray.
Mar '09- Coolest, quietest, 2nd fastest disk tray.
Nov '09- 2nd hottest, loudest, fastest disk tray.
I dont know. Maybe I'm weird. I just like to see the evolution of the system.
