Timing Weapon Spawns
In normal matchmaking (not MLG), weapons have their own pre-determined spawn times, depending on map. Most of the time, Rockets is 3:00, Sniper is 2:00, Camo is 3:00, and Overshield is 3:00.
Now, for Camo and Overshield, it will respawn exactly 3:00 after it is picked up. This means, if you touch Camo at 11:50, you'd best be there at 8:50.
Weapons are a little different. Weapons will stay where they are put until picked up. Now, the respawn timer will not start until the person wielding the weapon stands still for TWO seconds. Exactly 2. This means, if you pick up Sniper, the timer will not start it's countdown till you stand in place for those 2 seconds. You can use this timing to your advantage, and maybe put it at an easier time to remember, such as 8:00 exactly.
Let's put together a scenario. You run over and pick up Overshield at 11:24. You then make your way to Sniper, and pick it up at 10:57. You keep running without stopping, and then stand still on S3 with sniper from 10:22 - 10:20.
Can you guess what will happen? Overshield will respawn at 8:24, and Sniper will respawn at 8:20.
Here is a list of weapon respawn times.
MLG uses Drop Spawns. This means, the weapon actually spawns in mid air, which moves the weapon, and it will then start it's countdown 2 seconds after is it still on the ground.
If everything goes smooth, here are the times for weapon spawns on MLG settings:
15 Minute Games
15:00 - Rockets & Sniper
12:26 - Sniper
11:56 - Rockets
9:53 - Sniper
8:53 - Rocket
7:20 - Sniper
5:50 - Rocket
4:47 - Sniper
2:47 - Rocket
2:14 - Sniper
30 Minute Game
30:00 - Rocket & Sniper
27:26 - Sniper
26:56 - Rocket
24:53 - Sniper
23:53 - Rocket
22:20 - Sniper
20:50 - Rocket
19:47 - Sniper
17:47 - Rocket
17:14 - Sniper
14:44 - Rocket
14:41 - Sniper
12:08 - Sniper (Watch out, sniper spawns twice before rocket)
11:41 - Rocket
9:35 - Sniper
8:38 - Rocket
7:02 - Sniper
5:35 - Rocket
4:29 - Sniper
2:32 - Rocket
1:56 - Sniper
When I was learning to memorize these times, I made a type of box-chart time table thing that showed all the times, and what weapon, and taped it to the top and bottom of my screen. It really helped me learn.
Here's a quick Q&A-
Q: What are Drop Spawns?
A: Halo 3's weapon respawns are set based on when the weapon was picked up. Back in Halo 1 & 2, weapons always had a deterimined spawn time. Rockets were always at 12:30, 10:00, 7:30, 5:00, etc. MLG uses Forge to mimic these STATIC spawn times by placing weapons on boxes, and then deleting the box to make the weapon drop for a short time, activating it's spawn counter, similar to how if you die while running with the weapon, and you have to see when the weapon stops in normal matchmaking.
Q: Why do the weapons sometimes not spawn at these times?
A: Well, weapons have to drop from a certain height to activate the spawn timer. Now, if the weapon is picked up before it hits the ground, say someone is waiting on the spawn counting down, then the spawn timer will not activate until they hold still for 2 seconds. This is called Dirtying the spawn. You can do this to your advantage, to control spawn times. However, it can get sort of confusing.
My Accounts And Me
SHADOWSTRIKE1 is my main account, and has a 50 in Team Slayer and Team Doubles.
I make alternate accounts which I teach other players on. I think it unfair to make level 40 students face level 50's, so I make alternate accounts at their level. Once the account gets too high to teach on, I abandon it for teaching, and just rank it up to a 50 using strategies listed in both the My Tips To Help You Reach 50 thread, and the My Tips To Reach 50 video series. Those accounts include-
Digita1Ph33r which has a 50 in Team Doubles.
MyTipsToReach50 which has a 50 in Lone Wolves and Team Doubles.
RECON ARM0R which has a 50 in Team Doubles.
I know, I know. I am not gifted with thinking up very original names.
