nice post mate.

I have been using the high ground rocket tactic for a while, like you say if your fast it rules.

I will try and tell myself to 'hang back' in lone wolves with the BR, but damm it wont be easy.

Thread saved. Finally! SOMEBODY who understands the value of the SMG. Thank you!

lol thanks. Yep. Now with dual wielding such a rare occasion in Halo 3, the SMG has become a looked-over item... which it deffinately shouldn't be. I challenge anyone in here to an SMG vs. AR fight. SMG will win.

i sent him a mssg for an AR vs SMG match

i ran my own test and i just dont see the SMG being better. the SMG has to much bullet spread in my opinion

:D

Tip: Try to get a good k/d ratio too.

Tip: Put bullets into any enemy you see! Most of the time your team will pick the kills off. (Support Player)

Tip: COMMUNICATE. I swear it really helps alot. I've picked up plenty of 1-hits because of what my team told me. Also learn map locations such as S1,S2,S3,Top mid e.t.c - Guardian

Tip: A higher sensivity isn't always a better one.

these are completely my tips. I sat here and typed these out, so i'm no jerkbox. Show me some other place with these tips, and I guarentee you that they stole it from me, and I'll pursue them to take it down.

shadowstrikes tips should have been obvious to anyone past level 35. That being said i think you did a very good job in posting tips for people who are having trouble.

currently i am a 45 brig myself waiting for one of my teammates to get back to the US from London so i can go back into double team and get my 42. If you think i don't know how to use good tactics, I am a 40 in team objective. So ha.

My Pro Tip: practice all the time and play one or two warm up games of social before hopping straight into ranked play. Trust me, the warming up helps out a lot

Great tips Shadow!

I'm a level 39 in LW and cant seem to brake through to become a Colonel... One thing I can say is that if you get angry with a match take a brake after it and try playing some social to calm down. At levels like this I find its easy to get pissed off (especially with the kill stealing out there and its easy to lose control...

I can personally say thats a grave danger, I recently lost it (long day + a couple of bad rounds of LW) and fell down to a 36 for a while...

After reading you're guide I started doing some DP instead of LW, and I have to agree, its much easier to level up! I'm already a 30 and my partner is a 23...

Can I ask you a tip, though? On the Pit, it seems its quite easy to fall into a rut. One time, my partner and I split up to get the power weapons at the beginning of the match. (bad move in hindsight) . He died to the rocket guy, and I was soon picked off by an invisible shotgunner...

Anyways, after that the team moved towards the sword spawn and started camping in the area. My friend and I tried to push them out with frags and explosives but they had a very strong position. One of them crouched with the shotgun and the other stayed in the corner with the rocket. We tried crouch walking around corners, doing "stick runs" ( we were able to stick the shotgunner a couple times but the rocketeer always blasted us afterwards)

Anyways to make a long story short those guys held their position till around 7-17 kills when we finally lucked out with some sticks. By then they the round was already won by them so we couldn't do much to change the tide...

What would you have done in such a situation?

By the way, I'd love to read your ebook if you'd be willing to send it...

you honestly deserve alot of credit for making this list. its people like you i hope i get paired up with everytime i do team slayer.

  • 04.14.2008 1:30 PM PDT

heres a tip that might help you next time that happens to you.

try having your partner grab a regenerator and you grab a power drainer. using the power drainer and BR combo is deadly in any situation. Your target should be to kill the guy with the rockets first.

throw the power drainer into one of the corners, it will force them to move deeper into the sword room, then spam the sword room with grenades by throwing them through the cracks in the top.
you should be able to kill one of them, and use the regenerator to keep your shields up from dying. With some luck, the rockets will hit the walls of the sword room only causing splatter damage instead of an absolute kill. then rush in and clean up with a mauler/beatdown combination.

at least thats how i would do it

Check out my website for guides, lessons, and account leveling.
100% Legit Five Star General. No boosting, no cheating, just determination and skill. F/A for GB 09' and MLG '09.
Level 50 in LW, TS, TO, TD, RBTB, SQUAD, SWAT, MLG, Snipers, Legendary Brawl, Mythic Brawl & VDay. 48 in H2H and Living Dead.

One thing I would also like throw out there, is learning the advantages/disadvantages of every weapon and where they spawn on the map. Like the PR spawns inside the base on Snowbound are there for reason, you shoot three times and melee you get a kill. But you should not go outside as you will get sniped/BRed.

i have a 2nd gamertag

i dont care to run it to 50 but i care to test it so i can work my TD that i played only 4 games in

for the playing alone part it helps. i played 1 game and won it going right to a 5, then the next game i made 23 out of 25 to win the game. my partner was really bad as a random but the enemy team wasnt good enough for me, but i didnt have an easy game either during that with a teammate making only 2 kills

i told her to stick to social games and team slayer, explained how TD isnt the best bet for her. told her to play TS or to give team objective a shot

as for main tag i left off on 31 in LW and was doing very well with winning alot. i threw away alot of games so i can get noobs in for easier achievements but i leveled my way up real fast and had a good streak when i stoped playing at 31. def get a 40 in LW

Hmm tricky situation. In this situation, I'd turn to my respawn chart in my head. Sword, Shotgun and Sniper Rifle are all on a 2:00 respawn time, while the Rokkit Lawn Chair is on a 3:00 respawn time. I'd go with those little windows at the top... Which are a little known fact. For those who dont know, when going into the sword room, comming from ramps, the wall you go towards (the inner wall) has a whole at the top of it, leading to the sword room. Also be aware that the power drainer spawns on the bridge, right near this spot. I would have probably had a teammate go to opposite ramp into sword room, and I'd throw power drainer into the window, then have both of us spam grenades. It should clear out one at least, leaving the other with no shield. If not this, i'd have whoever is better sniper grab snipe (its on 2 min spawn) and go near rocket tunnel. I'd have them look into the window of the mauler spawn, and have a teammate try to lure them out while holding dual plasma rifles. If all goes well, the plasma rifles should lower shields in an instant, giving your sniper a good view to take a quick body shot to take em out. Also, overshield and camo are on 3 min respawns, so keep your mind on the time. If the game starts with 15 min, the rockets should be picked up around 14 minutes. so around 11 minutes, the rockets and invis should be back. Then just count down every 3 min, and do a quick math problem which could win you the game. Theres lot of ways to take it, but the most common thing to know is- when they are in that room, they are confined to using the weapons they brought in, and the sword, while you can wait it out and have a full arsenal of power weapons.

Thanks for the replies Shadow(s)... I'll definitely try to use the energy drainer more often in the future.

I'm also forwarding the thread to my friend, its invaluable if you're stuck at a level. While I knew most of the tips you posted (like the grenade holes) they're were more than enough that I didnt know...

thanks again

well, i will play with you if you are level 46+, but I dont really boost people... I just dont like it, as many people do it who aren't deserving of it. Not that you aren't, im just saying that an overall view of boosting just seems pointless to me, and I dont promote it.

Plz guys, no more friend requests asking me to boost you up from like 36 and such. I wont do it. I check service records before I accept friend requests, and if you want me to add you, you need to include a message with your doubles rank. If i have a full friends list, message me on here and i'll see what I can do.
