That reminds me of an Asimov short story I read once. It was called "The Last Question," and the last question had to do with entropy. In the story, early in our history (before we left Earth) someone asked a highly advanced computer if there was any way to reverse entropy of the universe, but the computer has "insufficient data." The story goes on and mankind eventually spreads to the corners of the universe, but never gets an answer to the last question. The computers are left behind after human kind is extinct, still pondering the last question. They eventually figure it out, and entropy is reversed, making the computers "gods" in the sense that they recreated the universe.
