Hi all
I'm new around here and thought I'd stick my head in and see what's going on. While I have no proof that there will be Halo 2 on the PC, I think it's likely as it would be more of money maker for MS, most of the work is already done, so a port would be more cost effective, I think, than building a game from scratch.
I've already finished H2 a couple of times, and while I think it's a great game, it's my opinion that the muscle of a PC would handle the graphics better as I noticed a lot of flaws when playing on my Xbox. It's hard to explain, when something new would appear on screen, it's like the Xbox couldn't get it all screen fast enough and everything would pop up in layers. Also, the voxol system or whatever they used for distant objects didn't work all that well- grenades look like diamonds a medium distances. On the Mombasa levels, car and truck side view mirrors would appear siddenly as you got closer to them, etc. And I found a lot of the textures were kind of muddy. I figure if they can Unreal II or Deus Ex on the Xbox, H2 should have been easier, because I think those games are likely to have more complex graphics over all, (don't know for sure, haven't seen them on the Xbox). That doesn't change the fact that Halo 2 is a pretty good game- and the Halo beast has swallowed me whole-, because I've bought the big fat strategy guide, the art of book, the Limited Edition H2 game, Master Chief action figures and wait with baited breath for the next Red vs. Blue.
As for PC vs. Xbox, this is as tired an argument as Xbox vs. PS2. It goes no where fast and just makes people angry. I have a good gaming PC, an Xbox and a PS2, so I have no worries all around. I'd rather just play games than argue about what's better for playing them.
