Something that I've been recently thinking about.

* The majority of the survivors come from the life pods that escaped The Pillar of Autumn and the survivors from The Pillar of Autumn get captured. Then you set them free in T+R.

Here are some estimates on vehicles that are operational on Halo (not in The Pillar of Autumn):
* 1 Warthog in Halo, 3 in The SC and 1 in AotCR (could be the same)
* An estimate of Pelicans in the game are 3 operational Pelicans (with pilots).
* There is 1 Scorpion Tank in the whole game

With all this in consideration, Where did all the vehicles used in the game come from if The Pillar of Autumn was captured by the Covenant?

If all this is correct then we should not get ANY vehicles and should have a few Marines from lifepods and a few more after T+R.

Could it be that the vehicles came from AFTER the crash land of The Pillar of Autumn where healthy Marines flew off in Pelicans with whatever they can quickly get hold of BEFORE the Covenant come to take over The Pillar of Autumn?

I doubt any Pelicans could get off The Pillar of Autumn in space as they look like they are too weak (engine wise) for space travel. Most likely not make re-entry either.

If you read The flood, it said that several pelecans did make it of the Autumn while still in space. The pelicans brought many of the vehacles whith them. The book also said that after the covenant captured the Autumn, the marines attacked and raided it(taking suplies and probably vehacles too). As for the marines, not all of them came in dropships and lifeboats. Over two hundred ODST came in H.E.V.s.

Haven't read any of the books. Suggest which I should read that won't spoil any Halo stuff in the future but just add to my Halo knowledge from the past.

You must admit that it does follow the game and is very observant. If you haven't read the books it doe make sense.

But obviously I am wrong.

I aggree with yapap. It did say that in The Flood. But still... Not that many marines could have escaped in H.E.V.'s. And, pelicans do look way to weak for a reentry. Especialy one like the Halo's.

the pelicans took off from the autumn after it entered that atsmopher but before it crash landed and if you read First Strike you will notice that one pellican made it off halo before it exploded so they can function in space

Yeah, that was a good explanation. And in the original post, there are only 2 operational Pelicans. Look at their numbers.
