why is it doing this?!?! i have Halo PC and love it. lately i switched from a 40 GB hard drive(terrible, i know) to a 120 GB. now all of a sudden Halo gets really laggy for about 10 seconds whenever there is a checkpoint. it never did this on my old drive. and my computer is NOT a peewee system. it's not the best, but it's more than half way decent. i kinda think it has to do with a particular program i installed, although i have no idea which one. i download a lot of stuff... here's the technical info:
I'm running it at 1024 x 768 resolution.
changing the framerate makes almost no difference whatsoever.
all the graphics are high, as this makes no difference either.
i also run it with VSYNC. running it on no VSYNC, or 30 FPS doesn't seem to make it better.
my computer specs:
AMD Sempron 2400+ CPU
ATI Radeon 9550 64mb w/ATI Catalyst
1 GB of RAM memory.
120 GB hard drive (as mentioned above)
no sound card
Also, the sound can get kinda choppy when im firing a weapon quickly, such as a pistol or AR. the sound effect will skip over itself, so that only every other bullet noise actually plays completely. i set the sound variety and normal and this helped a lot.(compared to high)
I could really use some help. i don't know why it did this. by the way, i had downloaded Gamecam V2 and halo would not allow it. it utterly crashed with gamecam running, and my Half Life 2 demo lagged terribly as long as gamecam was installed, so i got rid of it. everything was peachy until now. :'(
