Hi I'm new to the forums, so I don't know if this has been discussed.

While playing Halo online I've see a lot of weird glitches I think. I'm on dial up so I don't know if this is why.

1 - Running over people in warthogs and banshees and they just fly into the air and don't die.
2 - Hitting a Warthog with the Fuel Rod Gun or RPG directly and it only flips a little, and ends up taking 5 direct hits to flip over.
3 -Having the Warthog I'm on flipping over and not kicking me out of it.
4 - After spawning instantly dying.
5 - standing completely still and moving 10 feet across the map repeatedly.

Sorry if this has been done.

4-it's called spawn killing
5-realy bad LAG

yeah. the only real glich is halo's REALY REALY bad netcode (but that's gearbox's fault)

I know, I'm trying to get DSL, but I heard even with DSL you can't do 16 player games.
What's up with that?

Heyyo,

Iamwhie, no, it's not lag, it's bad netcode, there's a diff. You need to predict your shots, and then they work perfectly, so aim ahead of what you wanna hit.

so all from 1-3, predict where they're moving to in aboot 100ms (0.1seconds) and shoot there.

for 4, spawnkilling, usually with rockets or a vehicle... and they say halopc has a 'complex' spawning system...

5 is warping cause the server doesn't receive updates fast enough from you, usually caused by such things as "banning lag" someone gets banned so the server has to load the banning file, searches for the end, and adds him to the list... this banning system is really flawed in more than 1 ways as you can see....

actully it is possible, some dsl companies offer upload speeds up to 768 kbps, that's enough to host a dedicated server of 16 players.

I play in 16 player games all the time with DSL. No problems. I always make sure to join games where my ping rate is below 100.

Sounds like a cross between lag and noobs. Try a different server and get faster internet.

I think what he means is that with DSL Halo will not let you HOST a server with more than 8 players. If I remember you need to tell Halo you have a T-1 to host up to 16 players, Don't think fooling the program would make for a good experience.

Heyyo,

Yeah, keith speaks the truth boys, he knows his hosting. ;)

You can trick the game into letting you host 16 player, servers, but that don't mean your comp and/or internet connection will be able to handle it with giving everyone good pings. The average DSL connection can host 8 players on ListenServer mode, and 12 on dedicated server mode (with nothing else running on the comp) with the average pings of aboot 100ms.

Sweet DSL.... My friends are all idiots and say that DSL sucks, but i just A) either ignore them B) tell them to piss off C) tell them that they are arseholes.
But yeah, i have dsl and its fine.... until i join a non-DS server. *plays scary music*. Thats where the lagginess, and the warpiness, and the losing-connectioness starts.

...it's still lag, because his machine is lagging behind the server. the fact that it's because of the bad netcode is irrelevant

t1 costs about $500 a month, and is the same speed as cable........
it's meant for like schools and other places that have lots of computers, because it can support about 100 computers at the same speed as cable

Heyyo,

Panda, no, stick with dsl, it's usually better for online gaming. My Cable connection is 6mbit download, but only 1.3mbit upload. So my old ADSL account which was 1.5mbit download, and 1.5mbit upload was much better at online play, why? well, higher upload speeds. adsl around here costs $40/month, and Cable is $50/month. Cable's also tends to have limits, most adsl accounts get unlimited download/upload these days...

6mbit download with cable?

pooey...i only get 2mbit dl and 0.5mbit upload and i hav cable...

i feel that in topics like this, its like guys are talking about their 8===========> sizes...

i wonder how many people r telling the truth...

No, I have 5mbit dl and a bit less than 1.5mbit upload. It's so fast, but if all the TV's in my house are on, it slows considerably.

Heyyo,

Hmm, tv's dont seem to affect me, it's just when there's too many people on the network. That's usually not a problem since they uber-upgraded their ISP systems, and are almost always guaranteed high speeds, it's teh smex. ;)
