Why can't we use HTML tags when we are writing news articles in private groups? Obviously the text editing system is different from thread posts, but being able to use lazy links would very handy.

You can still use lazy links. There is a Hyperlink button near the option to change the font color. It's just very different.
Oh wow, I didn't notice that at all. When you click inside the text area a toolbar appears at the top of the screen with all sorts of buttons.Ah well, mystery solved.[Edited on 03.22.2008 10:54 PM PDT]

Being able to use unfiltered HTML code would lead to malicious abuse. That's why you can use the WYSIWYG editing system.

Yea I don't really like the WYSIWYG manager for groups. You can't use half the features. Feels weird.
Hello.
Yeah, also, a lot of people in groups tend to use the manager incorrectly (they also bold, italicize, and link things like in the forums).

It's annoying to see BB code in news articles. People should be taught that the code there is different.Altough the manager opens up the editing even for those who don't know their HTML, which is something of a plus. I think it would be better to have two views--designer view and HTML view (sort of like Dreamweaver and such). That would allow simple folk to use the normal designer view and others could simply write in the code if they prefer to.
