Hello. I came across something a while ago, but I decided not to mention anything because I didn't think it was a big deal. However, I wanted to bring up an issue regarding private groups now because I think it can be a problem in some circumstances.

If all full control users leave a chapter, the remaining members would only have the permissions assigned to them. This issue affects private groups in a negative way considering that it is now impossible for anyone to obtain that administrator role.

For instance, if there was a group with many members, all of which were restricted to posting to forum and submitting news, this would be bad. Knowing that all full control users could leave a group and not promote anyone, I feel that this can eventually ruin a group. Yes, the group can still function, but is really limited because no one may access Admin Tools.

If possible, I would like to request a change so that there must be at least one full control user in a private group at all times. Therefore, the last full control user may not leave the group until another member is promoted to administrator. The only exception would be if the last full control user is the only group member, in which leaving the group would also delete it.

Thanks for hearing me out, but I would also like to hear the community's opinion. Please feel free to post comments and feedback you are willing to share regarding this topic. There is no need to flame, for if you do not like thread, simply avoid it. If you do not like me, send me hate mail through the PM system instead. Thank you.

Edit: Even though a group member is automatically promoted to a full control user, I still think that is not the way it should work. If the system were to randomly select a member and make them a full control user, it is giving power to someone who should not have power. If they were untrustworthy from the start and then admin permissions are given to them, the group would only suffer.

The last full control user should be forced to give administrative permissions to a group member before they leave. The only reason why I say that is because if an admin were to leave by mistake, the group is put at risk because they weren't asked to promote someone first.

Loose talk is noose talk.

I thought there was already this rule.

I wouldn't leave my group, though. I like playing dictator too damn much.

So I think Jun's a master chef, because he takes off his helmet and your like whoa, I think he's a chef.

So to shorten this up, Jun is master chef.

I thought that this was true. If it isn't now, then I believe that it was at a certain point in time.

Wouldn't they just give someone full control before leaving?

That is what he is trying to promote.

As of now, you can leave without doing it.

I believe this rule is in effect. If it isn't I blame stosh.

Odd, I recall having to pass on my admin powers when I left a group previously. Hmm.. Maybe it got changed. You had to give admin powers to a member before leaving a group, atleast you used to have to.

Hello.

I'm pretty sure after a while a member will recieve full control if the founder has left. I think it is automatic. I have seen a guy who was given full control automatically, and NO ONE promoted him. I believe it is an auotmatic system (probably based on the number of posts in the private forums).

I know for a fact it used to be in effect, because I started a group then left it, and I had to give powers away

Well, I'm not sure how it is. I only said that because, apparently, that's what CG has discovered.

Hello.

Oh, okay, I get it. That is true, because you don't want to get stuck with someone who cannot handle the job. I wouldn't want to see a group fall because of that.

It appears to be that you were correct CG. I must say that I agree. Again though, you'd think if the group were that important, the admin leaving would give his powers away first. So because of that, I see it being an important feature, but one that doesn't need to be implemented as fast as some other things, but implemented none the less.
