Subject: Post count?

I've been here longer than it says. I've been on the forums since about 8/06.

Walshy dropped from final boss? What dungeon? We killed the final boss in Karazhan but no Walshy dropped...just the bow and the T4 helm.

I really wish that Bungie would add the post count feature back to the forums.
Although it probably doesn't matter, and most people don't care. I would like to see how often a person visits the site and posts, so that I may consider how reliable the source may be.

Taxes do nothing to affect the share of wealth, since taxes are only applied to income.

So that's not even a part of the conversation at all, so it's pointless talking about it....

"for a "best" moral to exist, there must exist the "best" moral base. If the base of morality varies from location to location, culture to culture...then there can't be an absolute moral..

i see no advantages to having such a feature. right now, we can see up to 40 pages of posts by a user, and that allows us to read the posts as well.

having a post count would provide jerkballs a greater incentive to make vacuous posts.

Yeah, I agree, having all of our pages to look at is good enough.

Are you sure?
Because when I first joined I could have swore that they did.

» Sincerely, Dan

No. You can already see a user's post count if you want, up to 999 posts. Anyways, it would be unnecessary. Post counts are used on forums mainly to show you which users are more active or trusted. On this site we have the different member titles to show who has trust. Nothing else is really needed.

We've never had it, and I seriously doubt that we ever will.

Yes,in fact, we did. the only point it served was bragging about who had more posts and people posting so many pointless posts in order to brag about whose been here longer or who's more active to others, so it was removed.

I was pretty sure they did.

Somewhere out there... in an alternate reality... Marty decided to stay in the ad jingle business, bringing about an age of amazingly orchestrated Pampers commercials.

I think "All Forum Posts by this User" is good enough, plus people would be elitest of the fact that they have more posts.

What I'd want is a text stat under your avatar telling how many posts you've made.

This shows you who to trust.

I'd feel more comfortable having a Mythic member with 200 posts answer my question, than a Mythic member with, I don't know, 75 posts.

Sorry, I thought you were meaning a page counter at the bottom of each post to see how many hits it gets.

I remember reading some where were Achronos posted once that he was considering bringing back post counts. He could have been kidding but I doubt it. Reading that post made me think of a tone of mild anger and frustration. Oh ya, it had something to do with people asking why they lost their Heroic status and all that. Eh, for the post count, I don't care if it's enabled or not. Post counts mean nothing to me. What's more important is what's in the posts.

I am sure that if there was post counts that they were taken away for a good reason, like others have suggested probably it was being abused and people were comparing post counts and being jerks about it.

Trailer Park Boys ~ One of the best Canadian made comedies ever.

Maybe until Achronos spots a flying blue pig? Even then a maybe...

Post counts only encourage spam to see who can obtain the most posts. Like the department store states, "For the record, it's not going to come back.”

Yes. But it should only be viewable by you.

I really just don't see the point to add such a feature.Totally unnecessary (atleast in my head), and I just find it's reason for existence not grand enough. It's benefits wouldn't outweigh it's disadvantages, that's how I see it.

I racked 26,000 posts on the last site I was on that had a counter.

So I say NO.

  • 03.24.2008 8:10 PM PDT

What do you mean "back"? We never had a post count to begin with and we never will because it would cause even more spam, if that's even possible.
