Is the map Ivory Tower a reference to The Ivory Tower** or to the expression "He's living in an Ivory Tower?"*****Marty O'Donnell is the head composer for Halo games. Almost every piece of audio in all the Halo games was made by him. His office is called the Ivory Tower.***When you say someone is living in an Ivory Tower, it means they are very cut-off from the rest of the world.
the windows are very office like.
Ivory Tower is awesome.
Posted by: KeyranSoloIvory Tower is awesome.True, but that doesn't have ANYTHING to do with the question.
It probably does. Almost all of these maps have some sort of double meaning. (Damnation!)
Posted by: anderfIt probably does. Almost all of these maps have some sort of double meaning. (Damnation!)*sigh*Obviously it has a double meaning. But which double meaning did they intend? Did you even read the original post at all?
Based on my expert detective skills im going to agree that it was named after Marty's office. Also you pretty much answered your own question since you remembered that bit from the podcast.
The original post gave three definitions of the same thing. If it's named after an office which is named after something else, isn't it named after that? So obviously it has to be that double meaning.
It's a reference to Marty's office. The nickname of Marty's office may be drawn from the saying you mentioned, but in the game it's a reference to the office itself. In the map description, where it says "famous socialite Lance O'Donnell", that was no coincidence :)PS: The Carbine is hidden behind a crate and a few stacked palates.[Edited on 03.27.2008 12:31 PM PDT]
