I think its sad that bungie's creativity in level design has drop to the point that all folks are looking forward to, are "REMakes". Sure, Blackout looks cool but DAMN, Didnt we just leave Halo2? Bungie made Gardian, which is inspired by Lockout....shouldnt that be enough. Sidewinder/ Avalanche is welcomed in my opinion because not too many people experienced the joys of playing this on xbxconnect, Lan Parties or just 4 players on one screen. Seem like a waste of time and sad way to cash leech.
This might be a philosophical point beyond the scope of a discussion about maps, but I think it's unfair to imply that Bungie's "creativity in map design" has fallen at all, or accuse them of "cash leeching." Bungie has certainly proven time and time again they they can deliver innovative, fun multiplayer gaming experiences, and the fact that they chose to remake Lockout at this time instead of creating an entirely new map probably has more to do with their desire to meet their fans' desires (as made evident by the overwhelmingly positive sentiment this announcement has garnered among posters in this thread) than a underhanded desire to trick them into paying for something they've already bought once. Besides, whatever's good for bungie in that sense is probably good for us - if they manage to reclaim the #1 spot on the xbox live most played charts, it'll probably give them the financial and creative freedom neccessary to make more innovative maps in the future. That's MY hope, anyway.
But yeah... I definitely feel a lot of the same disappointments you do that this map isn't something more original, esp. since the majority of the time I'm playing, I'm playing with 3 other guys on splitscreen, and we're getting pretty tired of Guardian, Epitaph, and drab-looking Foundry variants. Sigh... maybe we'll get something more original in the Mythic map pack. :)
