Took you long enough… I think you guys are way over-thinking remaking maps, which is killing your map content productivity. You guys should focus your creative talents on the NEW maps and simply copy-n-paste your remakes.
Seriously, for a remake, you just need to update the textures and make a few slight tweaks here and there to better suite Halo 3’s gameplay. You don’t need to totally re-stylize/re-structure your remakes. Completely re-imagining the remake will just waste development time and ultimately just upsets lots of fans of the original. Didn’t you notice how Tombstone was not nearly as loved as Hang em’ High… something tells me that Blackout will not be nearly as loved as Lockout… you guys just don’t know how to remake a map.
If you guys were to simply copy-n-paste your remakes, and then focus your efforts on new maps, we might end up with 5 maps every 3 months… instead of the measly 3 maps every 5 months.
First of all, I would like to say that I seriously doubt that you have any type of education or training that would qualify you to criticize paid professional game developers. If you worked for a gaming or at least software company as a designer then perhaps your opinion would have some merit to it. To simply "copy/paste," as you say, from game to game would completely ignore the new weapons, new powerups, and new gameplay style in general from game to game. Did you notice how it was odd to "jump" from Halo CE to Halo 2 and Halo 2 to 3? This is because the games are a great deal dissimilar. So to simply take a carbon copy of a map from game to game would absolutely fail.
Not to flame or criticize but I'm sick of hearing people whine about how Bungie ruins everything. Bungie doesn't ruin everything. If Bungie ruined everything they would have gone out of Business long before Halo CE was even released. Bungie doesn't ruin remakes, people are just too damn stubborn to let go of their old reality and accept change. This is true in just about every aspect of life, but it certainly seems prevalent in the Bungie forums when remakes are announced. Boo-hoo, either get over it and accept the new Lockout, stop playing Halo, or get a job at Bungie and “fix” all the problems that you see. Want proof that people have trouble accepting change? Remember how everyone claimed they would continue playing H2 because Halo 3 sucked and Bungie had ruined everything about the game? I don’t know many people that still play Halo 2.
Anyways my point is that you should seriously stop complaining about something that you aren’t going to change. Wahhh the new lockout sucks! Get a life and get over yourself, its just a stupid videogame.
