Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as metaphors have two parts : form and interpretation; of course, the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom, as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning. Freedom being the briocoleus, the mason.

I LOVE YOU BUNGIE!

PS- if you decide to put in "unreachable" backround scenery items then at least make them actual items plz, and yes i did find your little "m" on standoff.

There is a certain point of tolerance that should never be reached.

Everyone that says that Blackout (lockout) is the same as guardian is a complete fool. It is completely different. The only thing the same about it is the size of the maps. They are both smaller maps. But nothing else is the same. If you took the blueprints of both the maps and put them side by side you would see that they are completely different. I just don't understand you people I think that you need to go play lockout again and see how different they are.

we already have an effing lockout remake. seriously what gives, is this the only map anyone could own at on halo 2. GYPSIES!

This map looks great. At first I was a little skeptical about changing the 'look' of the map from a clean, white, snowbound (sorry) map to a dark, dirty, gritty and grimey human map, but this map really does look fantastic. And it's fictional setting makes the most sense out of any of the Halo maps to date. It actually looks like a research station should; like it was being used when Cheif was off slaying Elites in the first game. And if you look closely there are signs for barracks, maintainence , research etc. It gives the location a real sense of purpose.

I am also very impressed with the inclusion of the 'Northern Lights' or Aurora Borea (which are located in the Arctic, not the Antarctic as one of the designers accidently stated) . Anyway, I hope the 'Northern Lights' are a very prevelant and recognisable feature.

My only potential gripe comes from the first picture showing the shotgun hallway. I reall, really hope that isn't a Gravity Hammer in that picture. Placing such a crappy noob weapon on such a brilliant level would be a heinous crime indeed. Do I hear the word 'campers' anywhere?

Just as a point of interest, Thor, there are Southern Lights also, which are known as the Aurora Australis.

This was kind of a disappointment. I liked Lockout as much as the next guy in Halo 2, but I was hoping for new maps, or at least maps that were somewhat altered, not an exact remake of a map that was overplayed in the last game.

Agreed. I thought Guardian was the new Lockout anyway...

Third'd. I'm not looking forward to more of the same old thing in matchmaking. Do Halo fans hate change this much?

Turf would have been a more interesting choice if we had to recycle old favorites.

Yes, indeed there are. They are one of the truly spectacular wonders of the natural world. I was merely pointing out the mistake made in the release. I wasn't having a go at any of the designers, just merely pointing out the error.

Swift Death To Evil

Awesome! Lockout was the best Halo 2 map, hands down. I was excited by Guardian when it came out but that was a big dissapointment. I hope this plays pretty much the same as it did back in the day. I hope there is a midship remake in the future. Halo 3 is void of covenant maps, in both campaign and multiplayer. Snowbound is the only map that involves any covenant architecture, which is pretty sad. A nice halo 3 version of midship would be dandy.
But this was still a F U C K I N G awesome choice!

This map defines what all other maps try to. Blackout is an amazing mix between a old classic and that "Halo 3 feeling." Blackout is the perfect map for any type of player, weither it be those objective players to those straight up Team Slayer players. Blackout is truly the successer of Lockout. Focusing on that small arena feeling but still keeping it in the "Hype", Blackout clearly contends with the best maps on a next-gen system. Overall, Blackout takes the level of Halo 3 gaming to new and higher levels. Way to go Bungie! You did a great job. -Assassin

...You said it was Antarctic, then you said it was Arctic, then you mentioned the Aurora Borealis. Aurora Borealis is only in the Arctic, but in the Antarctic it's the Aurora Australis. Make up your mind as to which area it's in. Please.

Heck yes.

  • 03.25.2008 7:07 PM PDT

Wait... What?

they are indeed completely different, but the sniping platform, the gravlift, the central area, and the side area do give it familiarity, I would never say they are the same, but they have some aspects that are very homy to the old Lockout.

Also just for fun I think there should be a hornet on the landing pad that takes off every game. Kinda tacky but I like it, in a way. Geeky? Yes very, but oh well sue me I like Halo.

Enough with all the freekin remakes.... I swear im not even gunna buy these ones im waitin till they become free... like blackout or lockout is just like guardian and i hate that one !! grrrr and sidewinder or avalanche i hated from the original halo... come up with some new material .... somethin like foundry something thats different and original... All they did with blackout was changed the look but the design is exactly the same... Work a little harder bungie.... Ghost town is pretty good i geuss.... If you are reading this i have a suggestion for a new map make a city... like the one from halo 2 i forget the name though... so you could have some sort of zombie city or somethin and you could close the dorrs in the buildings and stuff... Now that kind of remake or map i would truly enjoy.... Hope you take it into consideration....
Here's a list of all the remakes so far:
Last resort
Blackout
Avalanche
Standoff ( sort of like coagulation but not really)
that's it but still im not paying 10 bucks for 2 remakes and a small little map called ghost town...
Oh and how many remakes will there be in like a year probably like 12 or somethin
