Everyone kiss all other maps goodbye in customs. Welcome to the wasteland that was Halo 2 custom games: "blackout" everything. Sad, sad, sad, sad, sad, sad. Why does everyone keep wanting to make this game into some advanced version of Halo 2? I don't get it.
Why can't people just be happy with fond memories of Halo 2? Why do so many keep wanting to bring it to Halo 3? Lockout was cool, but it was on another game as Lockout. Why not keep it that way? That is so many people's favorite map, so let them go back to Halo 2 for a little throw-back game on Lockout. Why call it Halo 3 if you are going to make it into the same lame, slayer-based, BR starting, spawn killing, laggy mess that Halo 2 was? Why not call it Halo 2.1 or something? As far as I can tell, the vehicles have all been downgraded from Halo 2, the anti-vehicle weapons are entirely too easy to use (missile pod has almost 10 missiles? how about 5!), the assault rifle is already being phased out as "lame," and objective games are fast becoming a thing of the past in favor of games of slayer where the sillier of players will always continue to charge the other team ALONE thinking they can do something. I find this to be a sad sad sad day for Halo 3. Sidewinder - amazing. Avalanche - probly even better.
What's the point of Lockout anyway? The strategy is hold the sniper tower. Period. It's the same every game (unless you get the dorks that just want to run at the other team ALONE thinking they can do something). And now, with BR spawns becoming more and more prevalent, "Blackout" will become nothing more than a spawnkill competition to see who can shoot who the soonest from across the map. I don't see why people are so in love with not doing anything to get kills in this game.
"Oh look, I shot that guy as soon as he spawned with my BR. This is great becaue he had no idea where he was being shot from, spawned in a wide open area, and my gun is accurate 3/4 of the way across [insert any map name]. Haha, he had no chance! I'm so awesome." That's how most halo kills go down.
Call me a noob, call me a dork, a bk, whatever, I don't care. I saw this happen with Halo 2, and now it's happening again with Halo 3, only it took about 6 months for this to start instead of a year and a half like it did with Halo 2. We only need to have patience, because soon objective games will be confined to two, maybe three playlists, and everything else will be variations on slayer. This will include Team Snipers playlist, while still including Team Snipers in Team Slayer and Social Slayer. It will include the removal of multi-team (which should happen, because this farce they call multi-team is merely two games of team doubles played on one map). It will include the AR being left behind as some 2nd rate weapon, while the BR takes its place as the starting weapon for every game, because people are afraid to actually have to confront someone to kill them (choosing instead to shoot them from halfway across the map, which really is a heavy disadvantage to the player being shot). It will include more Team Duals (lamest game ever).
Just be aware people. This is a slippery slope you all are dancing on over the remake of this map. This can either be a great day for Halo, or the day where we started regressing back to the Dark Ages of Halo 2.
AND I invite all criticisms for my opinions here to be sent to me in PERSONAL MESSAGE form. If you do send me a personal message, please, dont' be a moron. Bring an intelligent argument and I'll have an intelligent response. Responses such as "ehy you suk at life" will be responded to with an equal (or probably better) retort. Thank you.
