Not to start a argument, but the cable being faster than DSL thing is not always true, you can purchase higher end DSL for about $50.00 a month and get guranteed uploads of over 300K and guranteed downloads of 1.5mbs (same speed as a t1). Cable speeds can and will vary depending on the time of day you are on, and hom many people in the neighbor are using the same cable provider as you. Btw, the company will tell you that you get a dedicated line, but the truth of the technology is that you don't, they cannot Guarentee speeds. In general you are right though, cable will be slightly faster than "basic" dsl, but nothing you would really notice in a side by side comparison.

I dunno about cable, but I use DSL and location seems to matter. I happen to be really near some kinda comms hub thingy(as I'm told), and that's why I get a more reliable connection than when I didn't live so close to one.

I have heard that once before, but SBC does guarentee the speeds, I know I would want a guarentee if I spent the extra money for the bigger pipe.

Five Tenets of Bungie.net Forum Life:
1. Trolls will always be well fed.
2. Blame-ability thy name is stosh.
3. Bungie has no control over retail prices.
4. Watch out for low-flying defense drones.
5. Seven is not optional, but rather, an inevitability.

Heh. That sucks. I have family that pays for my internet.

Uh...I have cable, and I consistently get 1500 down and 300 up....sometimes more. So I don't know where you live, but mine's different.

Yeah, Klurejr, I just went to dslreports.com and got 3133/240.

Also, How are you monitoring your speeds?

Washington state, near canada. It's provided by Comcast(was ATT)and it costs $40 a month I think. And monitoring is through the online test, it's reliable within about 5 kbs, or so it says. If you want to check out what you get, go to http://www.dslreports.com/stest
