I have a question for anyone who does. As a lefty I recently tried switching to Southpaw, but I found I had a problem. How am I supposed to jump if I have to walk and press "A" both with the same thumb? I'd appreciate some advice on this.

EDIT: I meant Legacy Southpaw. Jumping with Legacy is fine.

ARBITER, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT BUTTER!!! WORT WORT WORT.

This is why I didn't use southpaw sticks. I'm a lefty by birth, and I only use southpaw buttons. A southpaw boxer would be ideal, but whatever.

As for Legacy, I don't even want to know how that works.

I don't know why they won't just let us customize our controls. It would make things so much easier for everyone.

It would have required more work on their part.

I'll have to take your word on that. But would it have been that much more work to swap "Throw Grenade" with "Jump" or something like that?

Well im going to say it wouldnt be much more work to make a system similar to one found on the pc. The way it should work is you move the cursor to an edit button and the select the action you want to change. Then you hit the button you want to replace it with. So in effect you are changing things similar to how keys are changed in HCE for the pc.

Would that have been so hard to do that they wouldnt have been able to release the game on time? I would say not but apparently they barely finished the game before the deadline so who knows. Of course my abilities to code are basic (not the language) so it might have made bugs else ( if they for some reason did a horrible job of it).

You're probably right. But still, both of those control schemes are basically useless, it seems.

A southpaw boxer by Halo 3 should have happened for the buttons... though very few of us actually go beyond default and boxer anyhow.

Im going to agree since i never use them. It is very possible someone over at bungie likes those layouts and figured it should be put in so they wouldnt have to use the other.

Though im wondering about the xbox keyboard and mouse adapter. It would have to be able to map buttons so there might be a way to use that for the controller. it seems unlikely though.

The mouse and keyboard adapter is a good point, but I don't think you can compare a mouse/keyboard control scheme to one on a controller.

Spartan II-151
Look, just talk to me. I'm sure we'll get along.

This is what I use
The buttons are right at each of your fingers, so basically, the only times you need to move them, is to hit the black and white buttons, but you can program any button to become any other button. Pretty sweet.

I've heard of that before. I should check that out. Would you recommend it?

That thing looks pretty interesting. Is it recommendable, and do they make it for both a 360 and the original xbox, or just one, and if one, which?

Just thought id throw out the idea that there may be a way to have user defined controls since another product allows it (at least it should).

I tried the radica controller and i didnt like it. The only game i tried it with was H2 and it would keep firing my weapon (got it to stop a few times though). Mine might have been defective but i havent tried a different so it might be the same on all or just one that was bad. I also found it quite annoying to learn the new button placements. After so many years of using the normal s controller i found it hard to use the buttons built into the grips. I would need to unlearn the old way first. I think i paid 14 dollars for it a few years ago so if you can find one for less (since its obsolete) then it might be a good idea to snag one to try out.

The same way you aim and jump with the default stick layout. Why is SP different?

You could always play with the claw.

Oh, and I play legacy.

The lack of versatility to the end user is one of the reasons why the controller is inherently flawed. You can't change them to suit a lefty without breaking the entire control scheme. Buying a specially modified version of the controller or learning for months to get used to an awkward and uncomfortable re-positioning of the fingers (claw) to mitigate this flaw is laughable IMO. I'll stick with default settings and let the melee lunge automatically center my crosshair on the enemy.

You'd think they could have put jump on one of the triggers, it would have made it fine.

The claw is a joke. And it's on a Duke controller, which isn't so commonly in use, though I picked one up for 6 bucks! Hahaha really, change the button scheme.
Legacy for sniping? I'll give that a shot, I switch between default, southpaw, and boxer button layouts several times a day.
