Subject: Locking Threads--To moderators

Again, I thought discussing maps in the mulitplayer forum was appropriate.

Zoidberg's idea is very good.

The Optimatch forum isn't "the multiplayer forum". It's for discussing the online component only (which is matchmaking).

Loose talk is noose talk.

If there is an inteligent conversation going on (not one of those mindless rants about how recon they must have), then the Ninja in question should explain why he/she locked the thread.

Not when it's easy to see (if you've read the rules) that it's in the wrong forum.

I demand that you guys make me a Mod. Allow me to give an example of how I would react to various situations.

Bumped thread:I would delete the thread and blacklist anyone who replied after said bumpage. Including the bumper.

Trolls spamming:I would delete the thread and blacklist anyone who replied after it was created. Including the spammer.

Thread in wrong Forum:I would delete the thread, inform the thread creator that he/she needs to start using his/her brain when making a topic. It only seems obvious that a thread about the ending to Halo 3 would go in the Halo 3 Forum, not the Flood. I would also blacklist anyone who tried to respond to the thread creator with anything but "You posted this in the wrong Forum, imbecile."

So you see, with just that short list, you have a clear idea of how I would single-handedly clean up the mess that is Bungie.net

Now, as for this thread, well, it would be deleted as well and the thread creator would be perma-banned as well as anyone who agreed with him. Nobody questions the Mods.

(In all seriousness though, it's silly to ask the Mods--who don't get paid--to respond to every single thread they lock. If you have a problem with it, PM them...don't make a whole thread about it.)

Loose talk is noose talk.

Now you will never become one. And yes, just because of that, I will question you if you do become one.

Zoidberg's idea is fine, but I'd rather people stop being ignorant and read [and comprehend] the stickies.
Maybe the forums need a single 'master' rule list, clearly advertised at the top of every page of the forums. To me personally, the rules seem a bit "all over the place" to find, which isn't exactly perfect for new users.

Seems very clear to me

Yeah, I know. I just feel that links to the rules could be super-clear. Like, white text in a red box at the top of the page or something.

note:edited for brevity

First, Bob, read the whole post before responding.

Second, I do believe Halifax was using something called 'sarcasm' (and perhaps 'hyperbole') to add a humorous flavor to his post.

EDIT: In case it's not clear, I was agreeing with Halifax. How much clearer do the rules need to be?

Badge Man
Bungie.net

In that thread you posted about the Legendary Maps having no plans of being free, that is just a marketing ploy to get a lot of people to buy the maps to make them think that they will never be free but in fact they will be free within months.
