So we all see bumped threads that get passed the mods everyday. It happens most prominently on the File Forums, and it can really get to be a pain if you are playing by the rules. My question is:
Mods, would you be angry if we sent you personal messages when we see this act in place?
I don't find the report button to have any effect whatsoever, so can we PM you or do you have another idea in mind?

PS: I would be using the Mod Finder to locate moderators that would be online.

Thanks!

Report button works. Keep using it. Mods already get 40,000 PM's a day.

I thought that too, however I have never seen it effectively work. I have seen my PMs work many times in the past.

Billy Mays here with another fantastic offer

seems like they only catch my bumped thread. 14 dayer, it sucked.

Report button works occasionally, but if it really big, PM a mod and they'll get on it.

Wrong. The report button in the files forum in full of FAIL. I have reported some threads 20+ times and there still not locked a week later.

In my expierience at least, the only way to effectively get files forum threads locked is to PM mods.

I usually can link up 5+ in about 3 minutes. Very, very easy to find bumpers especially in the maps forum.

When I See a bumped thread I just PM whoever the active mod on is at that time. - 100% effective.

Really? Whenever I have reported a post, I find that it gets locked within a short amount of time. Of course, I haven't been in the files forums very often, so I don't know how it works there. I don't think that they'd be angry if you sent one a PM, but the report button does work.

To be honest, I would only PM a moderator if I saw for a very serious issue. If I see someone bumping a thread, I simply report them. Reporting posts seems to work fine.

In the main forums only. Theres not enough PPL reporting in the files forums to bring those threads to the "top" of the spam queve.

Yeah, that's true. :-\ I just don't see thread bumping as being as serious as ... Some other things I've seen before.

Yes... good. Because there's too much bs going around...

You know there are those times where you just click the empty space where the "lock" button is repeatedly until your finger goes numb...

Honestly. Only use PMs if the problem has not been taken care of. Give the mods a chance to respond first, though.

Trailer Park Boys ~ One of the best Canadian made comedies ever.

Bumping will always happen. You can help keep it down to a minimum by using the “Report” button and PM a Forum Ninja.

Yes, I’m sure some of you insist that the “Report” button is useless. Well, it works as well as us members take our time to use it. Imagine if everyone use the “Report” button when they noticed spam or an infraction. That would lead to a lot more threads being noticed by the moderators and make the boards more accessible and spam free.

For some of you users, grasping this concept is difficult, hence, why you don’t use the report feature.

Why all the posts all of the sudden? Where ya been?

  • 03.26.2008 12:41 PM PDT

Ok, i'm back.

I do understand the value of the PM option. I would just like to hear from a mod if this is violating their personal space.
