The End

No, it's a bad idea because it gives people an unneeded power and makes tracking people down who have spammed a LOT harder because they can delete their post and I would assume normal moderators cannot view deleted posts (I guess master mods can) so finding deleted posts that were marked as spam would be very difficult.

I don't think its necessary. If someone has something they want to take back then they can edit their post and its all set. All deleting the post would do is free up one posts worth of free space on the page. Thats not overwhelmingly motivating.

There is a reason I am user ID 1 and my account creation date is before this site came online.

No, for a couple reasons.

First, anytime you post something on a public forum, such as the main ones here on B.net, the post/thread really doesn't belong to you anymore. It's now the property of the community. So, you being able to delete something that really belongs to the community would be wrong. Strange fact: if Foman posts more than 3 times in a thread, he officially owns it after that due to something called adverse possession. I think he's making it up.

Second, say I don't like you OP, and I make a new thread talking about all the naughty things I'd do to your mum. Well, after a set amount of time, I'd simply delete the thread and no one would be the wiser. However, I still got to spam the forums and unfairly flame tu madre (I hear she's quite nice). Could be rather problematic. Not really needed.

If there is a post/thread that really needs to get axed, the mods will take care of it. Most of the time they are very hesitant to do so because once it's deleted, it cannot be undeleted. As example of some of the threads that got deleted during the Pezza incident.

So, again no, for the above mentioned reasons.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Once a thread or a post is deleted it is gone. That is why only higher-ups have that power anymore. Once you post it belongs to the community. The good ones must be taken with the bad.

While in some cases this is really needed, it is heavily outweighed by the number of threads that have no need for it.
