Halo's plotline gets a little bland sometimes, and I may possibly know something to do with it...

Any main character must have strengths and weaknesses. Actually, anyone needs strengths and weaknesses to be a decent character.

With that in mind, what is the Master Chief's weakness(es)? If you can't think of any, please post that as well. I want to see if I am forgetting anything...

Read the books, he's not some super hard badass as you're led to believe.
EDIT: Well he is a badass...I meant he's not emotionless

Speaking of the books, I am currently reading them. I have finished Halo: First Strike. I found it incredibly boring. This is also one reason why I started this thread. Still going to read the books so I can learn the background info in them, but I yawn when I see another fight scene coming up.

*Based solely on the knowledge from the book First Strike, I am on my way to reading the others*
I always see these things from the Covenant's (or the enemies') perspective. A squad taking out tens of millions? God damn, doesn't matter the amount of steroids and training and how much that armor weighs, they are still human . If the Covenant's forces are refered to be so powerful, why isn't it shown? Why is it that 3 Spartans in banshees can fly into the middle of legions of the enemy force, and get out with only a single casualty while nuking the place? If I had one of those wraiths, they wouldn't have done any such attrocity.

The only part I found myself near the edge of my seat was when the MC faced the Elite with that plasma sword in close combat. MC was still the badass for pulling out, but he wasn't invincible, and the enemy wasn't stupid.

May I ask why you decided to read The First Strike, the last of the three books, first?

Cause I didn't go out and buy them, I borrowed it from a friend, he had only that one at the time.

ty for the replies everyone, I was hoping this wouldn't get piled under other threads like so many other hapless threads...

What really bus me is when people post in the wrong forum. Halo threads in The Library, and Halo 2 general and campaign in New Mombasa (Hell).

Hmmm...that could be your problem, right there. I made the same mistake and read First Strike first (it was the only one they had in at Barnes & Noble. I like to get my books at a sophista-macated store.) Most of the time I was like, "Wha? When did this happen? Why? How? BECAUSE!!!!??"

Well, not really. But I was a li'l confused and in the dark.

The best book, by far, is The Fall of Reach.

Sorry, you'll have to be bugged. This is the official spam forum, even though this isn't spam. Those other areas actually have more spam than the Flood does, or at least more activity, making my thread drop to the 2nd page within 5 minutes (I've seen it done before). I don't want to bump, and New Mombasa seems like it is full of complainers and people who I don't think will get this.

This isn't the official SPAM forum, this is the Official Off-Topic forum, that means anything that isn't Bungie, Marathon (and other old skool games), Halo, Halo 2, or 7C, goes in here, but it still has to have meaning/contribution/usefulness/etc. Thats not to be mistaken as SPAM.

Okay, I apoligize, thanks for the clerification. I usually just stick to the forums New Mombasa, Zanzibar, and The Flood (guess why I picked the one I chose...). What do you want me to do? (meant to be an honest question, since I don't understand what you're trying to get me to do.)

Just don't promote SPAM, and help us keep our beloved Flood clean with intelligence (not to suggest otherwise, I'm just saying what's best for the forums).

Okay, believe me, I don't. This is probably the 3rd thread I've created, check my membership date, that's nowhere near spam. Now, anyone wish to inform me of a weakness of John?

lol!

Excellent, my master shall be pleased with this report...

Another point I wanted to make - This is one reason why I like the Arbiter so much. For one, he's Covenant. However, mostly it is the fact that he screwed up so badly (quite the weakness and scarring) and has so much respect for the Covenant.

For once I'd like to see the "demon" screw up just once. Unless he is exactly what the Covenant say he is, a "demon" that cannot be killed, is perfect, and desecrates/destroys holy relics. Hmmmmm...
