My idea is...
Find some way of the community deciding their favourite as well as the Bungies Favourites. I think a good thing to do for the Halo 3 files is to make a system like http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/ where new files are judged and if they are deemed crap then they get deleted... and to encourage people to judge the files they gain ranks and exp or some other reward Bungie could give them.

Good idea? I think so!

Yeah but I think it obviously needs improving because alot of good maps are not getting noticed because of the quantity of stuff.

Well when thousands and thousands of maps are made, that is inevitable. Just because you or your friend has an awesome map doesn't mean it'll make Favorites.

I agree, some of it's garbage, but it's not the fault of the "system", it's the fault of the tons and tons of people who give five stars to lousy pictures and maps and get them noticed. You should probably tell some people in a group you are in to download your map or something.

I think that the system I suggested would restrict the amount of content because the crap ones would be deleted. And people would work harder to make better content so that it won't just get deleted.

That is what it is designed for, but the crucial flaw is that some people don't use it with any sense of decency. Many random people will come along and give one-star ratings for no reason, and this has been proven. Many recent screenshot galleries have been affected by one-star attacks and that only leads to the file share.

So with that, I think judging a screenshot, or whatever sort of community file, by it's rating is not fair at all.

I agree, so I think a system like Newgrounds would work: ranks, exp etc. It will give people a reason to review more maps reasonably. Also on the website people with high ranks who had used the website longest and reviewed/voted had a bigger say on what maps are better because their vote counted for more.

NO! These are not the community's favorites, which is what the highest rated would imply. They are Bungie's favorites (as the name suggests). They will hand pick things that they like, even if you don't agree.

Yeah I know I'm talking about the content in general. They can pick there favorites or whatever.

Edit: I changed the title to community favorites because the Bungie favorites have been changed now, so thats all good.

MSXL: The Last Honest Chapter

I see your point in making something like this. I'm definitely for it. Basically a customer map/gametype "portal"... a central location for you to submit maps. I think if this was implemented, you would simply make like a 1 map a month limit so that way there wouldn't be tons of crap from one guy. Would be a good way to get views for maps. So basically take the current system, and provide a good central location.

Yeah exactly, but with some kind of reward system or ranking maybe which would be a motive for people to download, play then review/rate.
