One of the strongest feelings I have ever had playing this game was during this level, the first time I played it. Think about this, after you initially battle the flood, and you have just had to run your keister off to try to get back to an elevator, probably gotten lost 2-3 times and have just about had it because these things just keep coming at you and you WANT OUT! You finally find the elevator and heave a sigh of relief, hit the switch and BOOOOOOOOOOM DOWN SHE GOES! The first time that happened I literally felt my heart sink and once the overwhelming feeling of doom finished washing over me, I started to swear a storm up!
That is my favorite part, hands down, for the effect that simple thing had on my psyche! It was a very cool twist, and it worked well. It shouldn't have because that is a fairly predictable thing to have happen, something taking you in a direction you don't want to go. It works because the first time you play the level, you are pretty amped up by the time you reach that level and are not really thinking that clearly about what could happen, you are just so darn relieved that you found a way out and you just expect the elevator to take you to safety. Welp, MC NO LUCK!
