It is very likely that moderators have received personal messages regarding the "problem" in some of the forums, but I am specifically speaking about the Halo 3 forum in this post.

Now, I use the report button on off topic threads whenever I can remember it. But... it doesn't seem to get translated to a moderator, either that or they are offline, or simply don't care.

This isn't a hit on the moderators, or Achronos, and please, forgive my bluntness here... but you would have to be completely blind to not see the extremely massive mess of off-topic garbage in the Halo 3 forum. And yes, I realize that the moderators are left to their own personal judgment about what they should do about certain threads that may or may not be off-topic (that is what they will be deciding); and, typically, my view of things in the forums tends to be more strict to the rules ("like Shishka", if that is a fit comparison). But, really, MLG debates don't have anything to do with Halo 3. Nor do hackers that people complain about (we're not supposed to make threads about specific people anyway), "what does a flaming monkey head next to a post mean?" doesn't belong there, nor do any other manner of off-topic things belong there.

It's just really getting out of hand. I've been out of the loop for a while here on the site, and I'm not sure if it is worse or the same, but I know that in my opinion, the Halo 3 forum needs some over-watch. The Halo 3 Forum isn't the Flood Forum; it's supposed to house discussion and debate of things relating to Halo 3.

The moderators do have lives, yes, but there are many more moderators these days, and I can't see why there couldn't possibly be at least one moderator online that has the stones to go into the forum, whack a few heads and restore order.

I suppose I am just asking for more attention from the moderators for the Halo 3 forum.

The flood also wants more attention. Saw another guy saying underground needs more attention. Another saying files forumss need more attention.

Achronos has big possible plans for next month for the site (I think)

Just keep whacking that report button and also direct PPL to the correct forum if need be.

The shear amount of PPL posting is just too hard to keep up with on a 24/7 basis.

Shishka v2 would rock.

I am sure that you, I, or anyone else that tried could keep up with at least one forum. Oh, you have no idea how much I would like to liberate the Halo 3 forum from its infestation. Rule with a reasonable iron fist and rule book in hand.

I am sure that the "report" button flags threads, as it would make absolutely no sense not to highlight them for the mods. Assuming it does flag them, why aren't some of these threads getting locked? It frustrates me, but I can only calm down when I think about how the mods are simply volunteers.

O rly?

I'll help how I can. Expect a mass of "reported" threads.

EDIT: thank you, by the way. I'm giving those whiny MLG threads the evil eye.

I'll wait about ten minutes for that to get cleaned up, and then start reporting in another forum.

Thanks again.

I just had a morbid thought of dozens of clowns flying through the air after being struck by your ban-hammer.

So I think Jun's a master chef, because he takes off his helmet and your like whoa, I think he's a chef.

So to shorten this up, Jun is master chef.

I would just like to say, Yoozel, epic win.

Bungie's On To Me!
More Webcam Awesomeness
And more....

I received Recon for being awesome. Like it matters anymore. Thanks ODST! :D

Hey Yoozel. What if we kept all the ninjas ready for the main forums and stuff, and then give a couple of people who are on constantly in the Septagon, Underground, and Flood, some moderator powers JUST for those forums.

It could be member titles like this, without special text or anything:

Septagon mod

Underground Mod

Flood Mod

Just an Idea! :D

  • 03.28.2008 4:48 AM PDT

MLG is for kids that are too fat to excel at real sports

New Flood the home of all things random

OMG, gaming for the fun of it.

Some of the Forums are less busy than the others so need less attention, i think it's better the Mods can graze over all of them plucking out the weeds.

The amount of off topic threads that plague the Halo 3 forum is quite scary at times. I can only imagine the look on the Ninja's faces when they open their web browsers, only to be pinned against a nearby wall due to the amount of Blackout, clan/team invitationals and "Bunjee sux" threads.

I guess we just have to help out as best we can by reporting such threads and never replying to them. There is nothing worse than a thread kept to at the top of the page due to multiple people telling the OP they have posted in wrong forum.

'Tis a hard life for a moderator.

Loose talk is noose talk.

I think the Halo 3 forum should be split in half, the MM portion goes on one part, the campaign portion on the other. That way, you mods could perhaps moderate such a huge forum such as Halo 3. In Soviet Russia, the Halo 3 forum controls YOU!

Note: It is a common misconception that the "MM portion" is the Optimatch Forum. Remember that the Optimatch forum is for discussing playlists. I'll add to this idea; instead of creating a whole new forum, instead merge Halo 3 multiplayer discussion with Optimatch. Not to say I support this idea, just elaborating.Posted by: IcedPea

Those are some things that would be something to talk to Achronos about, as he is the site administrator, not Yoozel. Yoozel only wishes he were.

Represent your idea in a completely proof-read state; show it as well thought out, why you think it would be an improvement, make your idea clear to see, and the make clear the intended effect of your idea. And... don't spam his inbox, one PM is plenty enough; trust me, he knows you sent a message, but it's up to him whether or not he responds. I would imagine he is sort of busy.

Or, better yet, instead of sending him a personal message, try to find a thread in this forum that was specifically intended to be a melting pot for ideas. Not to play forum cop, just trying to help you guys out while preventing you from annoying the admin (that would definitely be the last thing you want to do in this place).

EDIT:

Thank you, Yoozel, you did well at cleaning up the forums last night. I wish that would happen every single day.
