please state why or why not. my votes on no. somehow i think they will throw things off with all the new features, like boosting, sprinting, homing rockets, there is simply too much room for keeping things as balanced in Halo1. my predictions are as follows. there will either be some rediculously cheap tactic such as quickly tapping the sprint button that will make you almost impossible to hit. or for the ghost and banshee, if you tap the boost button quickly or time it right, you will eb able to permanently boost and shoot at the same time. or there will be some feature which will make some gun as useless as the needler was in the old game. like now with the battle rifle whats the point in holding an smg? its exactly like the old assault rifle, except now it has walk. so u can hold two fo them now...so what? now ur holding two guns that just spray and pray. overall my point is that, i'm sure there will be something that slips through, at least in the initial copy that is released. but hopefully whatever problem that is unforseen that may aries will be able to be fixed through xbox live.

I'm not worried, I think it will be more balanced than the first.

If you look at the original, the weapons weren't all that balanced. They worked great in combinations and were designed well in that respect, but really what guns did you ever use? The pistol, and then another weapon of your choice. Most people didn't even think of having two weapon slots, they thought they had the pistol and then an extra weapon slot. My point is that most of the guns weren't even worth picking up when you could use the pistol.

With the way they've been emphasizing balance, I'm sure that Halo 2 will be balanced up the wazoo.

it will be more balanced than halo 1 because they have been working so hard to make the perfect game and they know if they mess up on one thing theyre toast because the competition is huge right now. they also knwo its coming out around the holidays so it is important it all fits the game and plays naturally. this means they probably test it constantly and make sure all the features play right and still have that halo feel.

of course it will be balanced, we hear all the time in the weekly updates that they r spending a lot of time trying to balance it out so no one weapon owns the others!

I've thought about the whole balance issue, since there are so many new features (like boosting and boarding and dual-wielding), but I think Bungie will iron it all out and make it good. I have faith!

I think it's going to be way more balanced than the first one. Anyone in a ghost in BG was pretty much unstoppable unless you got lucky and dodged their first attempt to run you over. The pistol was by far the best weapon (in my opinion). It took three shots to the head and like 4-5 shot to the body and didn't make much noise and left no jetstream. By the time you figured out where it was coming from, you were pretty much dead.

I don't think Bungie would include it if that were the case. My guess would be that when you "sprint" you do not just all of a sudden go faster but rather have to ramp up to, therefore quickly hitting it wouldn't do much and you're now disabling your use of the weapon (the time it takes to lower and bring it back up will be longer than tapping it). Running with out being able to shoot would be a bad idea.

or for the ghost and banshee, if you tap the boost button quickly or time it right, you will eb able to permanently boost and shoot at the same time.

First of all, good luck aiming that thing. Bungie has said it is almost impossible to steer while in bost. This is not to mention that this bug is incredibly easy to fix, in the run loop for the banshee just have a check for whether in boost and if so turn off guns, or when trying to shoot check for boost and turn off if so. A continusous button press is checked consistently.

or there will be some feature which will make some gun as useless as the needler was in the old game. like now with the battle rifle whats the point in holding an smg? its exactly like the old assault rifle, except now it has walk. so u can hold two fo them now...so what? now ur holding two guns that just spray and pray.

You mean to tell me you never used the assualt rifle in MP halo? Sure it was not often but in close combat I found it more useful than the pistol overall. Remember it only takes 15 shots from an assualt rifle to kill, so if you're accruate with it thats no time at all. With two this is equal to shooting off only 7 bullets, thats no time at all. Now I don't know how powerful the SMG is, but you get my point. I can definitely see using two smgs to be very usefull at times. This is all not to mention that the BR is not as powerful as the Halo 1 pistol which means two smgs might be more useful.

overall my point is that, i'm sure there will be something that slips through, at least in the initial copy that is released. but hopefully whatever problem that is unforseen that may aries will be able to be fixed through xbox live.

I think they will be fine for the most part but agree that if something does slip though the beauty of Xbox Live will fix it.

We Were playing Capture the flag today....

Not having the ability to drive any vehicle while holding the flag will balance alot out... making it more balanced....

Also, there was another thing i remember that was unfair, that could easily even out....

But i cant remember what that is.... so i'm not gonna mention it!

I put "no" because H2 won't be as blanced as Halo 1, it will be MORE balanced. Pistol being brought down, what a great time.

this is the bungie forums after all... and i still don't think that they've confirmed the no holding the flag while driving, in the E3 demo, he said it was taken out... for the E3 demo

I could see Halo 2 being more balanced than Halo... Bungie will have an idea this time of what things are broken, like the sniping Scorpion or the no-kickback sniper rifle... and the pistol.

i voted no, at least in the way it was shown in zanzibar at e3...the spanker lock-on [which i started a poll about] and the vehicle boarding are really iffy for me. i know that you can only board when the vehicle is traveling at low speeds, but in some of the gameplay videos at e3, it was turning into a game of musical chairs or something. my fingers are crossed.
