Who plays the HUGE battles on two betrayals over and over again, and does anyone have any suggestions for making the level even more fun? Different paths, vehicle choices...etc?

Personally this is my favorite level! I like to play it without using any vehicle other than a banshee to get me to spots I have to get to in order to take out the pulse generators or move back and forth between weapons caches.

To make the last banshee grab battle more varied I will try the following:

Using or not using any rocket launchers

Using or not using the sniper rifle for long scoping to sight my rocket launcher or take out any covies

Varying between using the pistol or the needler to take out the covies

Using only a plasma pistol and grenades (or for the whole level for that matter)

For the rest of the level

Taking out the wraith at the front end of the level with a plasma pistol

Using the shotgun for the initial sentinels only, then dumping it for the remainder of the level

Taking the first sniper rifle with me (from the upper level of the first structure) to add to my round count when I pick up the one at the end (then almost all of the elites can buy it through my scope!)

I am sure I will think of others, I will add them as other people chime in!

I hate that level. It is dark, I can't see, there's too many guys, it is too open, it is too hard to figure out where you are suppose to go, it is repeatative, it just plain sucks. It's like Assault on the Control Room but worse.

No, don't get me wrong, I love huge campaign levels that double back on themselves. The Ark in Halo 3 is a perfect example. What I don't like mostly about it is how you can't really see where you are going, the lack of a constant supply of vehicles, and the fact that trying to use anything other than Covenant vehicles makes you spin out. You also frequently can't try and just drive slowly because then you'll get stuck (with grenades, not stuck as in you're between a rock and a hard place). If it weren't snowy, if it weren't pitch black, if there were a few more vehicles or maybe you could use them for longer, and if the big circular rooms weren't so repetitive, then I think it would be great!

This is IMO the best level. There is a good supply of vehicles, assuming you're not dumb enough to charge in with a ghost without shooting anything.

Try avoiding use of the pistol, and sniping the Elite before he gets in the first Wraith. You could also run through everything, get a banshee, and snipe everything from the high platform. I love doing that.

"its not the years, its the mileage"

Yup, it is one of my favorite levels as well.

Great ideas guys, i think the best part about this game is the fact you can do so many different things for each level!!

I play this level all the time too. Its one of my favorites.

One way to keep things interesting is by challenging yourself to beating the board on Legendary without dying once. I've only done it a handful of times on three difference levels:Halo, Truth and Rec, and Assault on the Control Room.

Also, the two levels Halo and Truth & Rec have some minigames that you may find interesting. One is the "rockslide megabattle" (google it for directions), where you can setup a situation with over 40 cov vs. you. I still play this minigame regularly, and its one of the reasons why Halo:CE continues to be my fav game of all time. Nothing like being the MC with full Sniper and Pistol Ammo and 40 covs to be your cannon fodder.

Another minigame is in Truth & Rec. I came up with this myself, so bear with me as I try to describe it to you:

After you destroy the second wraith, go through the underground bunker with the warthog, cross the bridge, and open the gate on the other side. Don't bother killing any Covenenant when you come out the other side. Drive full speed ahead up the hill, past the dropships, past the 3rd wraith, past the two hunters on top of the cliff, and down the two hunters on the patch of ice (where you can no longer drive forward). Doing this will have activated all the Covenant in the entire area. You will rarely see this many enemies on the screen at once. Now slowly and methodically backtrack. Also, try not to kill anyone along the way just to make things more interesting.

Let me know if this works for you, or if you have any questions...

Uh...which level is this on? I don't remember any of this on T & R.

You're right. My bad.

Oh, that will be absolutely epic. I've got to try that.

One day the twinkies will rise like the flood and take over the earth and will not be stopped! Then a twinkie lover will eat them all,get fat, have a heart attak, and die.But the earth will be saved from the evil TWINKIES! Have a nice day! :)

this must be one of the best levels in the entire Halo series......just the huge expanse of it and the canyons that break off left right to the middle and every which way that gave you un-maginable possibilities to beat the level however you wanted. There is no other level that compares to it in Halo 2 or Halo 3. And the breattaking scenery just made you want to stand and just look out and not pay attention to the hundreds of plasma rounds and needles but just to remember this moment, because when you think about it Halo had pretty much the best graphics for it's time.

also in Halo 2 or Halo 3 you had set waypoints that if you didnt go there your marines would leave or cortana would get all annoying and be like hurry up and what not. I still remember just flying in my banshee taking down all the hunters and turrets and stuff that were tryin 2 kill me so i just fuel rodded them in the face and that was that.

This is the Halo level for me.
There's only one major sticking point when it comes to a "no die" run. Message me if you want to discuss.
Otherwise, do the above recommendations.
I tend to "guide" battles towards Flood.
Would rather take on 10 flood than 2 Elites.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

love that level, easily one of my favorites. the first time i came around the bend and saw the scuffle between covvies and flood i was like wow. then i climbed the hill near the ice lake and was blown away by the fight.

i love doing it with smaller weapons, pistol, needler, AR. the only thing i use artillery on is the wraiths.
