I don't see how the people who don't want the Free DLC are made to either quit playing Halo, or Buy a Hard Drive or extra Memory Unit. Money isn't the problem here, its having a choice and you don't seem to be giving me any. Im not gonna be limited to SWAT or Team doubles.

I said Im only gonna have the basics when i got my Xbox Arcade with Xbox live, i have 5 games.
And i don't really care for DLC (even though i like contributing ideas). The DLC is good but i don't want to be forking money out for console accessories, i think i spent enough the day i had to count all those bills in the game shop.

So at least give me an option. Your so lucky I'm English and not into "suing". Please respond.

Bungie's On To Me!
More Webcam Awesomeness
And more....

I received Recon for being awesome. Like it matters anymore. Thanks ODST! :D

It makes sense for them, And most people who bought their xbox got a hard drive with it....

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

it doesn't take massive ammounts of memory either, and you couldn't do lots without a HDD so I don't see why you wouldn't have one.

shhhhhhh

If this DLC is anything like the DLC with Foundry and such, it'll only be included in a single playlist, which is a specially made playlist including only the DLC maps. Meaning, nothing in matchmaking changes. (Until the maps are free, that is.)

Ah, the RECENT DLC. I see your problem. Like a guy below me said, HDDs for the 360 are relatively cheap, especially when they've been used. *shrug.*

you can get a refurbished HDD for around 60 US, and it really is worth it to get, not to mention that the point of a product is to generate income and branding it to generate a steady flow of income. MS has got us by the green back but isn't it worth it to play with somebody halfway around the globe and get the same kick out the exp.

Well, the 360 was basically designed for users to get a hard drive one way or another. Premium came with one, basic came without one, where it was purchased separately. If you really want DLC your going to have to get a hard drive one time or another...

...You don't really have many other options. You can either play what is provided without the maps, or purchase a relatively cheap HDD in order to play everything.

I'm just waiting for Bungie to give me the official low down.

  • 03.29.2008 6:49 PM PDT

First off: You are not limited from Matchmaking if you don't have the maps - you'll be able to play all playlists without the maps, except for the DLC-only playlists. You're not being "forced" to do anything.

And, uhh, you do realize that each map has quite a large filesize, right? There's no way to store it on a Memory Unit, or without an HDD.

I'm limited to Lone Wolves, and Team Doubles. And i don't want the DLC.
I don't want a HD or larger MU and im not gonna become another fool for a huge company's seemingly harmless money trap they have laid down in a market full of customers.

Forget social matches.

So its my fault for staying clear of the DLC playlists and the DLC, and now its free its OK for me to be pushed aside for not forking over MY MONEY for a damn HD? Seriously are you stupid or what? I want a decent answer.

The back of the box says nothing about the game "requiring" a hard drive. It says optimised, and thats obviously for Fileshares.

The box says "online multiplayer 2-16" nothing about requiring a HD for multiplayer.
If my words seem heated its due to the weak user replys.

Actually, Bungie doesn't have to give you any playlists in MM. They could, very legally, limit you to playing Customs only if you don't have the prerequisite requirements (DLC content). I'd imagine that not a whole lot of other people are in the same "boat" as you, so addressing a very rare instance of not having the DLC content wouldn't really be worth the time.

As of right now, as I understand it if you don't have the DLC maps you can't be matched in a game where they would be played. I didn't know that they were/were going to restrict you out of specific playlists if you didn't have the DLC.

I appreciate the good reply but i want word from Bungie on all the legal bits, they have to realise they are screwing me over and that its not cool to assume everybody has to be the same.

Not to be an ass here, but "2-16" multiplayer is offered through custom games. MM is something Bungie is doing to add something to the game.

So there isn't anything legally or morally wrong with what they are doing.

Does it suck ? I'm sure; but in no way did they ever claim that you would be able to access extras they offer if you don't have a hard drive.

MM is something just taken for granted, it appears.

If the 60$ isn't worth it to you, that is your choice.

So I think Jun's a master chef, because he takes off his helmet and your like whoa, I think he's a chef.

So to shorten this up, Jun is master chef.

You know, I just think you're being stubborn. This is not a "money trap" being laid down. This is simply a way to make the game more enjoyable. I really have not been able to play the new maps enough due to many people not buying them.

The percentage of Xbox Live registered players who are in your boat is probably<0.001%. To this day, I didn't even know that Xbox Live playing was possible without a hard-drive. I've always seen things saying that it was required.

People like you who always think that corporations do things like this to get your money make me sick. First off, they're supposed to try to get your money. That's what's called profit and without it, your home would not exist.

Second, I doubt that getting you and a few more thousand people's $100 would really make any difference in Microsoft's profitability. They have other products that are much more expensive and that should be causing more of an outrage than this.

As a small related piece for the above comment, extreme minorities don't matter in overpopulation. One $multi-billion company will not go out of their way to please less than 30,000 people in a society with over 5,000,000 people. It just won't happen.

This whole thread makes me sick, and on top of that, it's in the wrong forum.

"e.g. Headset and Camera", where does it say Hard Drive, yes those were examples but more importantly Hard Drives add more to a game than being able to see some ones face on a camera.

You know what im saying makes perfect sense, if the HD was required from the start, then why wasn't i locked out from ranked matches from the official release of the Heroic DLC?

DLC had a price and its own playlists for a reason. Online Multiplayer and Content Downloads are in two separate boxes on the back of the Halo box for a reason!!!!

Who are you to determine what additional hardware is required or not? I see the word "assume" pop up a lot. Maybe you should quit doing that. There's already been several quality responses and answers to your "problem".

  • 03.29.2008 8:11 PM PDT

you say you don't want a hard drive, then it's YOUR own choice, and YOUR own problem
suck it up, Bungie has every right to give the vast majority of people what they want and disregard what the 2 % people don't want

You HAD to download the maps in halo 2, no exception, correct me if i'm wrong

1. I have no problems with the DLC, like i said its good that its available.
2. Just because im in a small percentage all on my own doesnt mean that im insignificant.
3. What you know and what the box states are two different things.
4. haha at that, people like me who pay for my games and expensive double cd albums and my psp and 4 games, and my xbox and 4 games with XBL, and my laptop, and my keyboard?!
5. That way of thinking makes murderer ok in some cases my friend.
6. Well let a mod move the topic then.
