Ok Ime here now to lodge an appeal with anyone forum ninja or whatever.
I got a warning and had a thread locked for "advertisng"

by Disembodied Soul 3/30/2008
You have been sent a warning from Achilles1108. This warning's text is below:

Do not advertise your file forum threads in the other forums. Next time it is a ban.http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=19049991

Im objecting to this because and foremost on there the only files belonging to mke are two photos being used as evidence to support my argument, the main file in question located here

Exhibit A in the defence argument
http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=19042901 (posted to show location for ease of users reading this and not linked to prevent accusations of advertisintg) can clearly be seen to belong to one Beta Spartan and is not one of my files and as such the moderation staff have made an error, the only connection between me and the owner Beta spartan is one post in his locked thread last night

Exhibit B
located here pressumabke locked for reports of advertising too
http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=19042088

And finally Ive tracked down the person responsible for the report
exhibit C

i reported your locked thread!

the reason screenshots were posted was due to these comments
[quote] Szubzda17
sorry dude if it's not on youtube, i'm not gonna bother watching it.[/quote}
and other of the same nature.

Im not a vindictive man but if I am accused of something that is clearly unfounded then I will fight to have it cleared.

I understand the forum moderators are busy but not checking the context of the link use or checking the file owner name is just unacceptable as many more people may be banned or wrongly accused of actions due to such moderator behaviour.

I would appreciate a moderator forum ninja or even legendqary member to comment upon this case.

The case for the defence rests.

The mods are human. Sometimes they make mistakes. It was just a warning and any effect on your trust rating will go away in time (probably a fairly short time since it was just a warning). I agree that it seems you weren't in the wrong, but I'm not sure there's a way to rescind warnings.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

Appeals are never made for warnings, and are extremely rare for anything less than a permaban.

This is a game forum on the internet; there is nothing at stake here other than any self-perceived symbolisms.

If you have a problem with a mods behavior, PM the mod.

If that doesn't get you what you want, PM Achronos about the mods behavior.

If that doesn't get you what you want, unfortunate. I don't really see what you did as advertising, you were just commenting on an apparent oddity in Halo 3.

Achilles is also a big, mean, grumpy old man.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

Heheheh, this isn't a court room, although I'm sure Foman wouldn't mind. You should have PMed this to Achilles. However, in the long run, it doesn't really matter because they don't have the ability to overturn warnings. I assume Achronos could if he really wanted to, but even if it were unfair, he wouldn't, because that would open him up to countless appeals, most of which would be entirely illegitimate.

That fairly clearly looks like advertising to me, since you're basically just saying "Hey look at this cool thing that happened to me! Download it from my fileshare!" You could have uploaded the screenshots to imageshack or something (I'm not saying that would necessarily have put you in the clear, I am unfamiliar with the subtleties of all the H3 forum rules now because I don't go there). I think being strict about that is a reasonable measure, otherwise they would be flooded with useless topics that don't provide any discussion or anything interesting.

It takes more than one person reporting for it get to anyone, so you shouldn't worry about that guy too much, or the report system in general.

Loose talk is noose talk.

That's too bad for you. There are no courts, and the fact that you made your story public hurt you in the long run. Now we will all side with Achilles, for mods are always right.

just higlighting an issue and rember saying the mods are always right is like saying the store is always right. its the wrong way round. Im not saying the Users here are always right but if the mods arent checking out cases fully and are taking reports are truth straight off this forum might develop a problem.

And I have sent the mod a message to which there is no reply also Ive sent the sender a message and had no reply so as here is community discussion I felt it the best place to bring the issue up

But it's the people, mostly, that are the problem right now. Too many users see Bungie.net as their own personal blog, toilet, or blanket to cry on.

Moderators are chosen on behavior and experience, not popularity (with obvious exception to Foman, as he never knows what he's babbling about and was only chosen 'cause of the whole Iris spiele) with the community. The moderators ('less Pezz or Yoozel are having one of their notorious hangovers) know what they are doing.
