I recently began playing Marathon for the first time, and as
a huge Halo fan, this terminal caught my eye.

This means the message is from the future. Who would talk
to the player in Marathon from the future? "Core OS" is
most likely the Core operating system of the Marathon.
I have no clue what AF44+2DEB is.

I'm guessing this thing the character has is some sort of
technology that "folds" space to make space travel shorter. Is
there anything in Halo like that?

"doors opened before her without cause, their locks rusted
and shatter(ed?)"
Going out on a limb, I would guess this was
Cortana, because she had a knack for opening doors.
(This is where I go off on crazy Halo/Marathon Connections)
The Fifth Cortana letter is simple.
"... In my palace deep, Lyca lies asleep ..."
This is from Blake's "Little Girl Found" Why is this important?
The Girl in the related poem "Little Girl Lost" is 7 years old.
Cortana is limited to seven years of life. The poem begins
in futurity, which means the writer is from the future, as is the
terminal message.
I still have no clue what this terminal means, but that's what
this thread is for.

And slowly, another person understands why we say marathon is so good . . . ;)

Okay, i don't nthink i can really tackle your answer, but I may be able to help a little.

You theorize the message is from the future. It may be important to know that Lelee - once the Phfor began attacking - went into the memory banks and starting redating and rewriting history banks. Therefore, when you see a date, you ocan only half trust it. On MBO/S you'll see dates and times discussed under the "Lost Network Packets."

What can make trying to combiine Halo and marathon into the same "maraverse" is dates. Marathon was launched before Halo took place: But the marathon spent 300 years traveling - during which time Halo took place. So the game marathon takes place after Halo! Whoa?!

You might also like to know - i'm minimizing spoilers for you - that the technology of folding even entire planets unto themselves and transportinig them through space (and maybe even time) is possible in the "maraverse." Its out of reach of human technology of course, and even the Phfor as well. But its possible. So that's a great eye on you picking up the folding of the room into itself!

We can tie the Forerunner being the Jjaro; there is certainly enough parrallels to cry "copyright infirngement" it Halo was made by another comany. And the Phfor suprised me as being even more covenant than I had ever realized after recently playing through marathon again. The Phfor is actually a collective of differenet species, who glean their technology from the ruin outposts of the Jarro. Sound famliar? akk-blam!-! Brain-BLAM!

O.K., I see how Marathon took place after Halo. That bit of
info definitely makes things interesting. (Or mind-numbingly
confusing) I'm still sceptical about the Halo and Marathon
universes tying together completely, but this Terminal was
so out there I couldn't see another explanation other than
a Halo connection. Don't worry too much about spoilers
because I've read all the terminals on the MSP, but
Marathon still rocks. Taking out lines of Pfhor with the AR
grenades is a blast.

P.S. Off topic, but can anyone give me tips on how to deal
with those invisible compliers? They're giving me hell.

Invisible compilers? Lol, those guys freak me out, esp. how flying objects in marathon follow the terrain, so you'll be looking out over something on a ledge, and it'll literally pop up out of nowhere! yikes! I find fusion pistols best, AR in their face works as well. I love playing with a dark monitor, but i guess do your best to notice the different shades against the walls . . .

I noticed flamethrowers do'nt work on compilers. Tutz :/

(pun intended)
