Stink'n Park Rocks! But you do mean Linkin Park.
Eric Clapton and Curt Cobain were great guitarists too.
I make my guitar sing, baby!

It's JIMI hendrix and you missed Jimmy Page, or did you accidentally overlook the fact he was in the greatest hard rock group ever?

You got me on the Hendrix, and Page was a great song writter, but hardly a great lead guitarist. His solos are sloppy and easy to play, not even close to being as technical as the guy's i listed. But great for his time.

No,what i am saying is you will never be a good lead guitarist if you listen to people who can't play.Bands like stained, lincon park, green day and blink 182 would'nt know a guitar solo if you hit them in the face with one.

thats the most retarded thing Ive ever heard, I listened to metallica, and other bands that felt the neet to put solos in every song, but it gets old, who says you have to have a solo in a song for it to be good? maybe you put a little to much hairspray on this morning. I think its refreshing to not have solos in songs, you get tired of hearing the same old stuff all the time, you are a moron, you can be a lead guitarist with out ever playing a solo, for the most part a lead guitarist spends 98% of his time with the rythem riff, leave this guy alone,. whos to say the music you listen too is any better than the stuff hes listneing too?

You are a musical idiot,i never said every song needs a solo to be a good one,and i never said a solo should be in every song (learn how to read stupid) Kirk Hammett is terrible,i hate old hair bands, and if you own a guitar it's clear to me that you can't play it.

it all depends on what music you want to play (altho blink 182 and lincoln park do have horrid guitaring). i listen to radiohead. they have some of the coolest guitaring out there, and my ambition is to play in a band like thiers. i dont copy thier techniques when i listen, nor do i follow any of thier rules of guitaring. so, in closing, it doesnt matter who you listen to.

PS i like stained.

You seem to judge a good guitarist by the kind of solos he plays. That's kind of like judging a car by all the crap it has on the outside. It could be really flashy, but under the hood it's weak. A guitarist that can play fast but still sound like lots of other guitarists isn't really a true good guitar player. He just can play fast solos.

I mean, Page had a versatility that isn't matched in many guitarists, except for possibly Hendrix. I mean, have you listened to the album "III"? They go through like five different styles of music, and Page plays them all well. He plays Bron-Y-Aur stomp with a pick. A pick. That's practically a solo in of itself.

Hendrix takes the cake so far as skill goes...not only could he improvise insanely well, he had no formal musical education/training, and he could sing while playing an insane solo. Runner-up is Stevie Ray Vaughn.

A skilled guitarist doesn't nessecarily have to be someone who excels in the technical aspect of playing, in my opinon. A good guitarist is someone who innovates and redefines his genre (like Daron Malakian, guitarist of System of a Down. He isn't exactly a super skilled guitarist, but he has a really unique style that not only sounds good, put practically put a whole new face on the heavy metal genre. Tom Morello...well, he was really skilled, along with being able to do some pretty cool things with pedals and allen wrenches.). That's just my opinion, though.

your not in a place to be calling people "musical idiots" seeing as your more of a fan than a musician. also, critisizing other people/bands because of the genre they like is very shallow.
