I have played paintball once with a guy who used to play all the time. We are both interested in playing more and are looking to buy some guns. I would like to know the pros and cons between electric vs. manual guns and if anybody knows what guns are good. Im not going to spend a fortune, somewhere between $250-$350

Right now I am trying to decide between an A-5 with a flatline barrel and either a Phiranna Evo or a Spyder Pilot... Any advice?

I'm not up-to-date with paintball, last time I cared was a year or so ago, but I'd say if you get the A-5 don't bother with the flatline barrel. From what I've heard, it's not as good as it's made out to be.

unless you want to get serious about paintball like joining a team and doing tournaments you don't need an electric gun.

Phirannas are junk

A-5 and spyders are in about the same league but spyders come in more modles and are more customizable. From a sales standpoint spyders outsell A-5's about 3 to 1 but thats just because there are more spyder models.

The point of paintball isn't "gun fighting." It's playing a sport.

But in painball you just run charging at them guns blazing like an old western film. whers as airsoft is more tactical and squad based. im not saying that i';ve got anything against paintball.i think it can be a good laugh.(no affence to any paintballers)

And then you get shot by the people who are tactically playing.

I'm not going to argue any more, neither of us are going to change the other's opinion, so it's pointless.

Back on topic - The A-5 is a good choice. Woot.

Ive played a lot of airsoft, I have a pair of glocks, and some cowboy killers, the green gas is just too expensive, we all switched to paintball, you can get a 50lbs tank of CO2 for about 100$, the upfront cost for paintball is a little higher, but the long term is cheaper, in paintball, i run a heavely modified spyder select I got from wal-mart, with a 16oz tank, spent about 150$ total on modifications, its all I need, as far as electric guns go, the only major advantage to them is the auto capabilities, but if you play at a feild, its one shot per trigger pull anyway, so you cant use it, get a cheap chronograph, you have to chrono your stuff, I built a feild in my back yard for playing, and we have all out paintball parties, and I chrono every time we play, but I hate tippman, havent found a good one yet.,

Hi all, I work at a little place called "Splat Your Out" It's a paintball store in Minnesota. Personally, if you were going to spend $250-$350, you have to ask yourself "What kind of playing am i going to do?" Woods ball? or Indoor Speed ball? If the answer is Speed ball, then get an electric gun(Marker), for 249.95, you can get a spyder e99, then with the other $100 you can get a upgraded barrel. For that gun, i would recomend a 14' J&J Ceramic Barrel. (The barrel costs about 64.95)

If the answer is woodsball, i would recomend a Tipmann, but not the a-5. The a-5 is just a dressed up Tipmann 98. It just looks different, and has a "Cyclone feed". BIG DEAL. For woods ball, go buy a Tipmann 98 Custom for about $149.95. with the other $150 you can get a upgraded barrel, a automatic loader(To compete with the "Cyclon feed" of the A-5) and that should end up being about $350. the good thing about buying a automatic loader, is if you decide to upgrade yourself to a new gun later, you can put that on your new gun. With the A-5, you can not get a new loader, it is a special size.

I hope i helped, if you have anymore questions you can either post on this thread again, or PM me.

There are more advantages to electric guns than tha, you can get different triggers. different triggers can have a much shorter, and much lighter trigger pull. that way, you can pull the trigger much faster.

but I hate tippman, havent found a good one yet.,

Why? They are a great starter gun for a newer player. also they are nearly indestructable. that makes them good for the outdoors.

Personally, i shoot a 12', but i found that most player think that that is too short. and it has been proven that accurancy does not increase after 14 inches anyway.

it's not for accuracy, it's so you can push into the air bunkers more, exposing less of yourself

im selling a pump gun with a hopper for $40. It's a Maverick. I'd throw in a red dot sight for free too(i never used it).

woodsball sucks!

in an answer to jbSPINE if u think green gas is expensive you need to get hold of some propnae it stinks like hell but its much cheaper the adaptor is about 20 quid or sumthing but after tht its about 4 quid a bottle and i also agree with camoghost airsoft is alot more fun than paintball if you are in doubt then just try it

My only issue with airsoft is that when you hit somebody they could easily just deny it. When you get hit in the mask with a paintball there's not really an easy way to deny that.

i personally love both alot, paintball is a blast because you can just paint someone up and have a great time. airsoft is fun, because u need to be tactical, and have more of a millitary feel about it. i have had many different airsoft guns, and all have been fun to shoot around. ive had an M-16 A1 Rifle, which is a sweet lookin gun, not that heavy, and the FPS kinda sucks. i have right now a HFC MP5, and its smaller then the M-16, But Has alot more FPS, and is alot heavier. i dont have a paintball gun yet, but i have done alot of paintball tournaments with friends, and they let me either borrow one of thier guns, or i rent one for like a few days. i did an overnighter paintballing tournament, where there was like 10 teams, and each had a base, and reserve of Co2 and paintballs. and it was an amass of chaotic paintballs flying everywhere. as soon as i get enough money, im gonna buy myself a paintball gun just to start off with, and then as time passes, ill get a better one. so i guess with all that i said, my point is that i love both, and love to do both whenever.
