Okay here is a real honest effort for a map for halo 2. This post contains no wants, just ideas, so with that said feast your eyes on the following, pics included.

MAP Analyses
The map I have created is neither symmetrical, nor asymmetrical. However, it may seem symmetrical but that is because of it's good balance between the bases, paths, ect. You may notice that the bases themselves are flipped or reversed from one another. Another main difference between the two bases is that the Red base features a crashed Pelican. The Blue base on the other hand has a crashed Phantom. They are their for jumping purposes as well as eye candy. The bases each have a tower[s], a energy lift at the bottoms, & rock formations out front for cover.
FEATURES
The Main Feature[s] of this map is of course, the GATES. Many fans wanted to see more interactive environments, as well as more defensive materials for maps. Well, the Gates in my opinion are rather cool, they also enable offensive tactics/moves, but more on that below*. Each base has one [gate]. They are operated by a switch. Once one is open it stays open for the remainder of the round/time. The feature enables players & vehicles alike to attack at a faster rate, making it harder for the team with no gate to defend. The switches however are located in sniper towers, so they won't be as easy to open as one would imagine. This all of course brings a new meaning to "Enemy at the Gates!!!"
In between the gates is where most of the offensive battles take place. What better place for battles than a SWAMP.
The reason for this mayhem is due to both teams portals, as they both dump players right into the swamp. There is cover however, such as fallen trees, rocks, and flood like plants. This setting is rather creepy. You may notice the presence of the flood by looking out in the front of your base [a lone Flood Plant]. You'll really notice it once you make your way into the swamp[Foggy, wet, & lots more flood like plants]. Once in the swamp, there are paths/trails that lead out.
STRATEGY
This map awards players for good strategy. A good example would be: The red team has opened the blue teams gate, & have a warthog to pick up their flag carrier, this of course may allow them to escape faster. The blue team however, must run the flag, why you ask? Well b/c they did not open the opposing teams gate. Thus the Red team may score alot faster.
NOTE: once a Hog or any other land vehicle goes into the swamp they are thus stuck, & will respawn back if enabled. Land vehicles are not stuck however, if both gates are open. *This leads to the Gates offensive feature. if the enemy has not yet opened your gate & you have their flag & gate open, you can have your gate opened for you by one of your teammates back at your base. This allows you to drive the flag straight through the middle of the map for a perfect flag capture. You shouldn't have to worry about opening your gate yourself, because if you know you'll score first, then go ahead & do it, the gates will reset when the round/time is up. This is a risky move, but could be the x-factor if done properly.
EXTRAS
If the design would allow for it, the bases might also feature a Banshee garage similiar to those in Waterworks. I would suggest a beam like struture to be placed over the swamp up high. The way to reach the top could be a banshee, teleport, or a series of ramps. atop the beam would be the R-Launcher, or a beam rifle [ beam/beam rifle, get it].
DESPERATE BEGGING [on my knees ready to be smacked by the hand that feeds me]
If Bungie could bring this map to life, it would be worth the effort in my opinion. It just has that Halo 2 feel to it, that other maps lack. Also it's plauseable, it doesn't feature flying Nun teeth ect. [sorry Frankie] The amount of effort or "Eeffert!!!" as Jason Jones would say is that of any other Halo 2 map, maybe more, maybe less. You may feel that it needs work, but what map doesn't. Bungie do it for not only me but for the Bungie Underground. World Domination ladies & gentlemen, World Domination. I'm outters, peace. BTW [ kudos to the paint program, without it, I would have not been able to do this :P]
