Well, here's an idea.

Look at the controls. You have one black button to switch grenades back and forth. What else can you do with that button?

Well, if you depress it then it changes grenade types but you can also hold it down. Perhaps if you hold the black button down you can get an alternate version of that same grenade. Thus you could still only carry four of each,Fragmentation Grenade and plasma grenade but you can use them for more variety.

Now, you guys give it some possible effects

I like the idea of holding down the Black Button when the Frag is selected to roll it towards your enemy. It would make sense since this is a more tactical application when you're trying to be stealthy.

I'm not to sure what to do with the Plasma grenades really. At first I was thinking it would be perfect to make the Plasmas go flashbang, they have the look for it but then Flashbangs don't work on Spartans. What might work would be if you had alternate fire it would stick to static scenery like walls and ceilings but I'm not sure that would be really useful. It's kind of hard to miss a plasma grenade.

They want the 'Halo.' But I tell them: 'No! No Halo! For you, only the 'Frenzy'! The 'Frenzy' and maybe some 'Munch'

In an early magazine article about halo 2 (june 2003 OXM, i think), they talked about the possibility of manual grenade detonation. That would be sweet, if it could be implemented practically.

Well, this seems a little silly but if you hold down the Black Button you could change your Frags into C-12 packages and detonators. Then you could stick them to things.

Mind you, I'd add a blinking light and a beeping noise to keep the placed charge balanced. That way if you run into a base and hear a beep, it's a race between you and your opponent. You getting out of there and your opponent activating the remote trigger :)

That's the point. You'd never need to roll a grenade to play Halo2 but I would use it. Sure you could chuck a grenade but it's more visible and I'm a stealthy son of a bugger. You don't have to be stealthy to play Halo2 but it fits my styles.

Since the plasma granade has almost no blast radius, I think that an alternate fire would be a no lethal EMP granade that messes up the Hud and takes their crosshairs for a while.

I really really do like that. That's quite nice, especially if it messes up vehicle's control within it's radius or disables a vehicle for a time when you directly tag it.
