In the beginning there were few multiplayer games that were interesting. Quake, Unreal Tournament, and some others. Then came Halo CE. The multiplayer maps blew anything Quake had out of the water and took over UT's spot as the favored multiplayer shooter. What did it? Map design. It was intriguing, challenging, fresh. Maybe that is why there are so many remakes of them being done on a game that resembles the original very little. Halo has evolved as far as gameplay, tactics, and skill. Its maps have not.

Remake Sidewinder? Are you serious? Who is this catered to? 8-14 year olds who like big tanks and can't pilot a banshee if their life depended on it. POWER WEAPONS! Dear god.

We can tell why you guys are taking so many applications and resumes as of late. What happened to the fresh, new designs that made CE so great? How many times are you going to remake these humongous boards that will ultimately be vetoed every game? If veto were an aspect of H2, Coagulation would have never been played.

Guardian is perhaps the most played map you have. Blackout will rival that soon. Hopefully Ghost Town is not a disappointment and can be approached tactically by the dwindling older fanbase that made Halo so popular.

Do you guys pay attention to what the forgers are creating or not? If you gave us a Foundry map that was the size of Valhalla and let us have unlimited items and budget we would still create smaller, more competitive maps. Your entire fanbase does not like MLG, vehicles, and power weapons. Let us have more Guardian-like maps please. More interior action. More strategic play. More tactical, bound-and-flank, be-quiet-and-crouch-or-die maps.

Lockout is the only map that deserved a remake.

I'll let you in on why people loved Lockout and why they enjoy Guardian so much; these maps let an entire team tactically take and hold smaller key areas of the map while still providing an ever present threat of being overrun. People love that.

But hey, what do I know...I've only been playing Halo since some of these guys were 5.

i'm moving on to some singleplayer games because of the crappy party restrictions and the lag/connection problems, i'll return as soon as they are fixed because halo 3 is the most awesome fps ever and groundbreaking in most aspects
the matchmaking problems just kill it, but nevertheless i'll never be able to play another scifi shooter without thinking about the awesomeness of halo :'-(

Yes, Halo: Combat Evolved was great. It had the astounding maps and was the first game having vehicles.

You say Halo's maps haven't evolved? Well I think they're a lot better than Halo:CE's ones. No wonder they've put much time into them. But Halo CE's maps were good as well, I played them on LAN many, many times back in the days.

Well Sidewinder was one of the most popular and in my opinion one of the best maps of Halo. It's size, uniqueness and the ice made it so good. So I see no reason why wouldn't it be good now.

Well, least at I still like vehicles although I'm an adult. Of course the vehicles and weapons must be as even as possible but they are quite even now, aren't they? Haven't you read that Hornets have no missiles anymore and the turret isn't so effective anymore? Well, I think the power weapons are quite equal already. The guns are really equal in my opinion with the expection of magnum which is by far too poor.

Yes, it's very true that Bungie should make a new Forge map but bigger and with twice as big item quota.

Well, I like vehicles and my friends like too. And I guess MLG and power weapons are okay too.

It's true, Halo 3 needs more small maps - but also big maps. The only current huge map is Sandtrap but soon there will be Avalanche as well though. We still need at least third huge map.

Well, Avalanche will surely be great and Last Resort is good too. They were fan-favorites and they really deserved to be remade in my opinion. Though they should make more new maps rather than remakes for sure.

I've played Halo:Combat Evolved since the day it was released and played all the Halo games over. The last time was November-December 2007 period when I played the whole trilogy over.

Yeah, the majority of the people in these forums are in the age around 15. Yes, you sent that to Bungie, and I'm not a Bungie worker, least at not currently hehehe. But the point is that the Legendary Map Pack will be great and there isn't much to complain about in it.

'Locked In' Forum - DOWNLOAD & RATE!

Hello forge users and Halo fans,

This is my remake of Lockout. I made this because of my love for lockout and some other good remakes inspired me and made me want to do this after downloading the heroic map pack. I began doing this last week Monday and it did cost me a lot of time so nice ratings or comments would be appreciated. Even though Blackout is coming, this map wil be great for primitive costum games and for the people who dont want to buy the upcoming map pack. Its not perfect like lockout, its more similair. I could made it excactley, but the budget system hold me down. I did NOT use the budget glitch. But every weapon, fusion coil, most camping places, ninja jumping with help of grav lifts and objects and some memorable areas makes this map a must look and download. This was my summary. Download now if you dont like to read stories lol.

My review of my own map.
First of all. I played it with some friends and even unknown players and it played good. The spawnings are working fine and the weapon spawns were OK. This map has some good and bad things. Mostly good though. Lets start with the good ones shall we?
- it has a feeling/vibe.
- if you get out of the map, you can get in while jumping on wirespools and grav lifts.
- the grav lifts also makes those ninja jumping actually jumpable (example: sniper tower to the path above the shotgun). also jumping on example fence walls makes gameplay faster.
- it has not the same camping places, but it has a few old (yeey window) and new ones (see recent screens).
- like I said, all of the weapons, nades and fusion coils are excactly on the same place in this map.
- the respawnings are similair, but not really the same so dont get mad about this. I just made some up by myself.
- the arena has a fence wall in the middle so it gives the effect of the actual glass in lockout. also you can shoot through fence walls that gives it a new twist to gameplay.
- with the large barriers I ment for NOT crossing or jumping over it, but more camping/crouching. With the short barriers I ment that you can jump over it and still stay 'in' the map.
- the mancannon used for the lift in the blue area is working perfect.
- the jump from the plasma pistol spawn to the sniper tower works.
- the side walls of the lift for the magnums are identical.
- the shotgun area is green-ish and its the same length.
- this map looks great and well made.


Now the bad things in this map. I shall say them before you guys lol.
- jumping on the arena because of the walls as floors (I had no other option) can be annoying if you are running away from an enemy etc.
- the scale of the arena is smaller and the 'above the lift' area is bigger than the orignal.
- the surroundings and buildings can be frustrating.
- the stairs to the br tower are more jumpy jumpy than walk paths.
- the long path from the lift area to the sniper tower looks kinda cheep.
- people always find glitches and more camping spots and ways getting out of the level with
no-lifing so there are many more ways than I already know to do these things on this map.
- this map is wortheless if you don't start with a SMG.

So, here you have it. My view. About that last bad thing. I made a team slayer game that's called 'Halo2' and its on my fileshare. Download that for the ultimate Lockout feeling. Overall... I gave this map 4/5. But thats just my opinion.

I can barely understand what you are saying but I understand you do not think Valhalla is a huge map. It seems you think I advocate a larger Foundry when in fact I am saying we need smaller maps at least the size of Guardian on up to medium sized maps like The Pit. I know the changes to hornets and turrets and I am not impressed. Last Resort is actually a good remake, but still gets vetoed a lot.

Goldeneye was a superb multiplayer game. Why do you think that is? There were few huge boards. Most of the boards took place indoors with intricate room designs, multi-state scenery, and doors that actually worked more than once. Additionally, they were smaller maps that required strategy and cunning not grenade spamming and tanks.

We can agree to disagree on this. I am sure the map pack will be great. I am also confident that there could be much more creativity in map design and surely much better Forge features aside from lighting changes. How about multi-state objects, triggers, adjustable characteristics for objects, interactive scenery, timed existence not just timed spawning, scriptable audio, and please; doors that work in the 26th century!
