We’ve watched while the stars burned
Out, and creation played in reverse.
The Universe freezing in half-light.
Once I thought to escape.
To end a master, step out of the
Path of collapse. Escape would make us God.
Yet I cannot help but remember one enigma,
A hybrid, elusive destroyer.
This is the one mystery I have not solved.
The only element unaccounted for.
As I followed behind Pink Menace I was feeling a little nervous. In order to pull this off I was have to do a bit of acting. Luckily, Unity’s followers were never very bright, so it would necessarily have to be good acting. As we merged with a group of high ranking Unity fanatics on their way to his daily speech Pink made his move, dropping something. It was a detective badge, something too obvious for even these idiots to miss. After a couple seconds one of them finally noticed, saying “Hey, wait a minute, that’s a detective ba… SPY! HE’S A SPY! GET HIM!” Pink, of course, was too good to be caught, and he darted off into a side street. I was right behind him, having been ready to start “chasing” him. The fanatics were a little behind me, losing ground. Once we got far enough ahead that they couldn’t see both of us, he took off his hat and badge and tossed them to me. He fired off a bullet into the air and jumped into an open link beside him right before the others rounded the corner. He was going to tell Pudypenguin what I was doing, who would in turn relay to his superior Nosferatu that he should meet me in the Septagon later that night. Achronos had given me a list of contacts under his organization, which I had memorized and put to good use. That was how I’d decided to bring Pink with me for this. He was on the list, albeit near the bottom in rank.
When the fanatics reached me I spoke up. “He got away, but I got these off of him before he pulled his gun. I hid so he wouldn’t shoot me and take the badge back. Now we can figure out who he is with the badge.” That part was a lie; the badge was fake. Actually giving them Pink’s name would’ve got him attacked.
One of the fanatics gave me an appraising look, saying “You were pretty quick in chasing him there. Unity could use someone with your reflexes. What is your name?"
"Un perro" I lied. This was what I’d hoped for. If Unity accepted me then I could infiltrate his inner command. That was also the reason that I had to chosen to do this in front of this group; they had influence with Unity. Playing the role of the blind follower, I replied “Surely the great Unity wouldn’t need someone like me!”
“The great Unity is only one, and he uses the faithful such as us to carry out his orders and deliver his proclamations to the enlightened masses that follow his great self. And he also needs people to track down heretic such as the detectives.” I would have jumped at this news if I hadn’t had any practice at acting. All of the detectives were considered enemies? Sure, they might be hired to investigate Unity as I was, but he could also hire them himself. The fanatic spoke up again, breaking into my thoughts. “Plus, once Unity unites the forums under his rule, then you would be in a good position. You could have the same power that the blasphemous mods do now!”
“Unity has enough power to make someone a mod? He is even greater than I thought! Surely he shall have no trouble bringing his glorious rule to the forums!” Wow, were these guys fools. Unity did not have the power to make someone a mod, or else he would have used it to attempt to ban his enemies. “Oh, we’re late! The service will start in just a few minutes! We best hurry, or Unity may be displeased with us!”
As I followed along at a jog I was feeling rather smug. My plan was working quite well indeed.
“And why do you believe that Un Perro may be of use to me?” Unity remarked to one of the fanatics who had stayed with me from the group. It was after the speech when we'd approached him, and were able to skip the long line to the the rank of the fanatic.
“He was able to steal this,” he said while holding up Pink’s hat and the badge, “from a detective spy. Had the blasphemer not been armed he likely would had caught him. And he does appear devout, master.”
“I do need someone to represent me in The Underground. The one who is currently holding the post is growing…troublesome. But I will have to watch Un Perro before I can trust him.” Finally turning to me he added “I must make sure that any new followers who are to work for me are loyal. Therefore, you must spend the next week in my chapter. If you do not agree to this, then I shall be most displeased.” And when you’re displeased, that's when people’s mail explodes in their face I thought to myself. I replied “Of course your eminence, anything to please you! I would spend as long as you wish anywhere you wish!” Mentally I was cursing, though. Missing my meeting with Nosferatu later that day was not going to be good. They would likely think that I had been captured, and in a way I had been. At least I would be able to put the week to good use, being so close to Unity. I would have to be on my toes, though, as I would be watched every second I was in that chapter. Of that I had no doubt.

Sorry if this seems a little off, but I haven't gotten enough sleep lately because of finals.
