This is a RETICULE, and that is a RETICLE. I'm using the latter to aim. And what are you using?
I just played two FFA slayer matches on a dedicated server (already forgot which one it was). I joined when there were two people playing on HeH, pistol only as starting weapon, all weapons on map. One was Rober [NL], and I didn't get the name of the other one because he quit when I entered. By then Rober [NL] had 11 kills and zero deaths, so I thought this could be a challenge or even straight out tough.
Obviously, my first impression was wrong; I encountered Rober [NL] and he started FRGing me. I killed him, and he dropped an empty RL and the FRG. He respawned on top of blue base, right next to the frag nades, immediately running to the FRG. I just exited the tunnel leading up to blue base right under the flag pole, and I killed him before he reached the FRG (I knew where he had respawned because radar was on). Well, it went on that way: he respawned, immediately rushed to either the FRG, RL, or flamethrower (whatever was closest to him), and I killed him on his way there with the pistol and sometimes with a little help of a frag nade. A few times he didn't rush to one of those weapons, but switched to nade-spamming blue base from where the frag nades spawn on red base. After I killed him 14 times in a row without dying myself, a new player joined: killerlars. I killed Rober [NL] two more times before I realized that killerlars was still standing where he spawned; joined a game and went afk right away. Well , happens.
After some time Rober [NL] encountered the still afk killerlars, and - unlike me - had no scruple in killing an afk player. Maybe he hadn't noticed that killerlars was afk since he had joined, so I thought to myself that he would now stop killing him since he must have realized that killerlars wasn't playing. I was right to some point: Rober [NL] actually had noticed that killerlars was afk, and so he kill ed him again. I nicely asked Rober [NL] to stop scoring cheap frags, but he went on fragging killerlars.
Before the game ended, two other players joined: jeroen and timo. Jeroen fragged killerlars once, but stopped doing it after I asked to leave an afk player alone (or he simply didn't find him anymore). And since I now had three opponents (Rober [NL], jeroen and timo) I grabbed the RL. This was a mistake; on my way to the RL I fragged jeroen, who was lucky to respawn next to the FRG on blue base.
Well, the game ended like this :
- I fragged Rober [NL] 23 times and jeroen twice
- jeron killed me, killerlars and timo (who didn't score at all and quit right before the game ended) once each
- timo didn't score at all but got fragged once before quitting
- -=UM=-Snake didn't score or die since he entered the game a split second before I scored my final frag
- and Rober [NL] achieved ALL his kills by killing afks only: 11 times the guy who left when I entered, and 6 times killerlars (who stayed afk the whole game)
You may be wondering why I said TWO games at the beginning of my post. Well, the next one was on Ice Fields, and -=UM=-Snake (who was the only real challenge) got tired of Rober [NL] and killerlars (who had returned after the previous game; jeroen quit during the Postgame Carnage Report of the HeH game) still relying solely on the FRG or running over with hogs, so he quit. And being stuck only with two << insert pejorative term for unskilled gamers, starting with the letter 'N' >> isn't fun so I quit as well, even though I was leading the game with 19 frags.
So, what is the morale of all of this? Simple: I'm not that good at all at playing Halo, but at least I try; I restrain from using the two most << insert pejorative term for unskilled gamers, starting with the letter 'N' >>-ish weapons there are: FRG and flamethrower. Instead I try to get better with all the other weapons, and this match showed me that I'm right in doing so.
EDIT: The intention of my post is NOT to put any player down. I simply used the names for better readability, since refering to "this player", "the other player", "the first player again" is simply confusing.
