Subject: Stealthy Tranquilizer/Dart Gun?

When a cat is dropped, it always lands on its feet, and when toast is dropped, it always lands buttered side down. Therefore, if a slice of toast is strapped to a cat's back, buttered side up, and the animal is then dropped, the two opposing forces will cause it to hover, spinning inches above the ground. If enough toast-laden felines were used, they could form the basis of a high-speed monorail system.

I don't know about the rest of you, but i think it would be fun . Just imagine sneaking up and shooting a brute in the neck with a dart and seeing it drop to the ground unconcious. It would have to be short range, and/or only knock them out for only 5 minutes or so. Perhaps it would take more than one to take out a brute.

This would be useless against Elites because they have that energy sheild. It would have to a HUGE dart to take out a Brute. Against Grunts it might be ok, but i enjoy throwing plasmas on them more.

Maybe they are surrounded by some kind of EM field that lets them slip through.

How can i put this lightly, That would suck seriously why the hell would you want to knock a brute out instead of killing it, it would be no fun, you might aswell just melee it in the back

I've played Halo1 both "fast and loud" and "slow and stealthy". It excells either way. That is the beauty of Halo.

I've managed to sneak through entire sections of the game without alerting anyone to my presence and have enjoyed myself immensely. Try and just sneak across the first Bridge on Assault on the Control Room without firing a shot or being shot at while on Legendary. It's an excellent challenge.

Though, I see no reason to knock out an opponent with a tranquilizer dart. They'd only awaken to alert enemies to your presence in some time. That was one silly thing about Metal Gear.

I wouldn't mind carrying a silenced pistol for the Grunts and Jackales. For the Elites, I came up with the following:

The XM-9 Skewer.

Desperate for a means to implement stealth missions in an environment that involves shielded opponents ONI determined it needed some form of specialized weaponry. While a pistol and silencer was perfectly capable of eliminating Grunts and Jackals with very little noise Elites were another matter entirely.

Their answer was the Skewer. It's a single shot, drop down the barrel loaded spear gun that uses compressed atmospheric gases to propel the bolt forwards. Inbetween shots, if one listens closely, you can hear miniaturized pumps compressing air for it's next shot.

The bolt is a sharpened steel prong containing advanced electronics that short circuit a shielding system in the same manner as the overcharged plasma blast allowing the bolt to "pop" the shield as it passes through striking the target.

Only a strike to the head is guaranteed immediately lethal but a bolt to to torso is still highly damaging.

Draerden, I expecting you to come out with one of your weapons on this thread, and it strangely fits perfectly. It would be cool, sneaking around a level taking out grunts and jackals with the silenced pistol and wiping anything else out with the Skewer. But not a traquilizer dart, personaly I don't like it, why knock out an enemy when you kill them with a silenced weapon of some kind? Any ways it was pretty imaginetive, and all ideas are welcomed (except for spam).

Bungie said that there may be suppressed versions of the guns in the game, such as the SMG. But I don't get how'd you be stealthy for very long if you used a silenced SMG...it takes many rounds to kill anything, and they would be screaming by the time you were done.

That's it exactly. Stealth only works for as long as you can keep it going then it jumps to "run and gun". That's real life Navy Seals for you, that's what the marines do.
