I was thinking a lot of people play "LANS" or have never played halo 1 online. For those of us that have (sorta) through xbconnect, gamespy etc... does anyone feel we will have a small advantage because we know what lag is and we know how to compensate for that? Or is the new xbox live going to be so dedicated and big that the lag wont be as noticeable.. ?

Hopefull Xbox live will make up for it by a greater number of people being online. Meaning more people in your area. Lower ping rate. Less lag.

Meh, the reason that XBC is so laggy, is that it wasn't meant to be. Your playing a game online, that has no net-code, it doesn't know how to compensate for the loss of data that occurs on the net. This is why it sucks balls to play on xbc. But Halo 2 was designed to play online, so it's gonna melt your face.

Yeah, I'm sure we'll pwn everyone for the first couple days. Plus, whenever you play a game over the internet, there's just a higher percentage of sucky people, and they'll always be there to pwn.

Yeah, it's just not possible with the current tech. But M$ has said that Xbox 2 will support PC servers for XBL. That way we can handle more than 16 players per game. Especially when PC games are reaching the 100's.
