Out of all the alienwares I've seen, all of them ended up in the refunded section of the store. Its recommended to buy computer parts and put it yourself since its WAY cheaper.

I suggest that you build your own computer. If you need any help I would do my best to walk you through it (even if it means using a 670 minute calling card to talk to you through the building process). First you need to go to my topic (click here) , to get the basics of what you will need before you get to the building part. Building your own PC gaming rig will save you ALOT of money. As someone mentioned alienware (a popular "brand" name), I will tell you that I built a alienware-like (same stuff inside without the "alienware label") computer for about half of what alienware charges. No matter what the budget, it is always better to build it yourself. Plus its nice to show off your Killer (self-built ) PC.

Unfortunatley dell is not the best choice either. For the 2,899 dollar pricetag (from costco) you can build your own computer, and still have enough for a nice monitor, and a sound system. Plus you dont have to deal with the lame Pre-packaged software that takes up space on the hard-drive. Dell uses cheap parts, and has made millions by selling the older non-cutting edge technology to people that dont know what computers are really about. Aside from a few "extreme" PC brand names, all "brand" PC's are built on the premise that the people buying them dont know a thing about computers, and will be happy with yesterdays technology. Gamers need a breed of computers not yet created by the major "brands". Though on the horizon Compaq is tooling up for the production of the XPC line, which will have AMD 64Bit technology and Nvidia GeForce 6800's.

I can get a kick ass AMD64 3200 w/radeon 9600xt and dual channel ddr and all my other favourite crap for 1400cdn. There is no reason you cannot get a kick ass comp for under 1000.
