Five Tenets of Bungie.net Forum Life:
1. Trolls will always be well fed.
2. Blame-ability thy name is stosh.
3. Bungie has no control over retail prices.
4. Watch out for low-flying defense drones.
5. Seven is not optional, but rather, an inevitability.

Bring the flag to him. Reverse psychology almost always works.

This has worked for me a number of times, go in their base while having a friend driving around outside making a distraction. Works best on blood gulch. It's either a good plan or my friends really suck.
You decide.....

LMAO! That's absolutely HILIARIOUS! That's got to be the best answer to 'How to get Better in CTF'.

It would be great if that actually worked but he'd most likely just blow your brains out instead.

With so fef players the best tactic is just to stay on the offensive so you aren't stuck at your base dfending all the time. The key togetting the flag is grabbing it while they don't know it's happening.

Thanks to all the non-smartasses. I am proud to say I owned him using that distraction tactic you suggested earlier.

who still plays 2Vs2 CTF? With So Few Players, the strategies should be easy enough to figure out so NAMELESSWONDER you either suck incredibly, seeing as you yourself couldnot figure out a simple distraction plan. OR, your a veryspecial person. If the later is the case then I apologize.

If it is on sidewinder, just have a friend wait on the other side of the cloak and throw the flag through the grate.

Avalanche,
I usually dont play with vehicles. I find 2 vs. 2 CTF very entertaining. Your insecurity with your own halo prowess is reflected in this immiture statement. And if you're going to call somone an idiot, it might be best to use correct grammar when doing so.

well, if you do, take the ghost on Sidewinder, blitz to the gate with the powerups, Run over everybody in thier base, grab the flag, and book it back to your base. I can get the flag in 30 secs (and score) if everything goes as planned in Halo PC on the bungie servers.

NAMELESSWONDER,
a few grammatical mistakes, yourself..

don't*
your*
Halo*
immature*
someone*

anyway. :D
i just love correcting people who claim others have bad grammatical skills.
and, before you go on with correcting mine, i don't care about grammatical mistakes. i know the rules of grammar, but i seldom use them.

anyway..

a good strategy for larger CTF games (Blood Gulch) is to let the players come to your base. i know it sounds stupid, but it works wonders. if you have enough time to strategize, and hide out, waiting on the enemy, you're more than likely to hold your base down. while you and a few teammates defend the base, one or two others go through the caves and grab the overshield. if there's only one, then he goes straight for the flag. if another is with him, he can stay back and watch the portals (either side).

if you're on Blue, and you're going for the Red flag, then have one person stay at the entrace of the overshield caves, in the dark. the entrance closest to the exit of Red's portal.

if you're on Red, have a player stay on the light ridge, and a player near the Red's exit portal, sniping the Blue's exit portal (preferrably the player is near the overshield caves, or the entrance towards Red's base, of the pistol caves).

hope all that makes sense. if it doesn't, then you either don't comprehend very well, or you're not a very smart Halo player.. since knowing EVERY location by all kinds of fruity names, is the key to understand your teammate's feedback.

I'm best known for my skill at tele-fragging, so it's quite obvious what I'm going to suggest.

#1 gain field position so that you can control the other team's portal.
#2 Have someone camp the portal (at tony's rock if red, at grassy knoll if blue). They should be equipped with sniper rifle, and be good at spawn killing.
#3 The other guy should get a power up if available, though he does not necessarily need it. Now this guy runs into base, gets flag, comes out FRONT so that the sniper can cover him. He then teleports out of their base to the portal that sniper guy is watching.
#4 Sniper guy stands on portal and telefrags until they find out he's telefragging and start TPing backwards, or run all the way to him. Either way, you get a capture when the guy with flag gets back. When sniper guy dies after telefragging, he should then either cover the guy with the flag, or escort him back to the base.

Note* This method requires good field position and good individual skill. Do not attempt a capture until you are PERFECTLY IN POSITION. Like all large maps, sniping is crucial.

Nameless, I apologize for the immaturaty of my statement, however, I honestly find it hard to believe that you never thought of causing a distraction while your partner is stealing the flag. The fact that you normally play 1v1 ctf does not have any relevance to what we where talking about in my opinion. 1v1 and 2v2 are two totally differant games. One involves skill in which you must battle your opponent and juggle the flag at the same time. The other involves more strategy on gaining access to the flag. When people say that they are playing CTF, i automatically assume(and you know what that means) that people are playing Blood Gulch, or Sidewinder. This is because I play with lots of people. However, differant levels require differant strategies and I just thought it stupid that 4 people would play 2v2 CTF on Blood Gulch or Sidewinder with Vehicles

play on red team on blood gulch and do the 300 meter flag throw! its the best trick in the world

I usually play 2 vs 2 in prisoner, longest or hang em' high. Anything above 2 vs. 2 I play in blood gulch. The 300 meter flag throw is very impractical and is only usable in specific situations.

hard to say, im the friend in my group who always owns at halo...so i can't really give any good strategies because im usually attacking, not defending....try flying a ghost near the entrance..oh, and also, drive a warhog into the entrance of your base as well..it makes it very difficult to get out

Willshire, you don't have to do any of that, its totally unecessary. Download the video that you suggested or visit my forum (link in my signiture).

You'll realise that all you have to do is walk up the right hand side of the area in question (near blue base by the way, not the central bit closer to red), move onto the slightly steeper to the left (where you slip) and throw the flag up a bit.

It will slowly slide down the mountainside. The longer it is sliding the further it will go but be careful as if the flag is out of your team's hand for too long it will respawn back at the enemy base. The trick is to balance the trick between charge (how long it is left sliding down the mountainside) and time (too long and it will respawn before your team mate is anywhere close).

Check out one of the many translations of "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu available in the 'net. It is an ancient book on strategy and tactics that applies quite well to HALO in many instances. An occasional re-read always gives me a few new ideas on how to stomp opponents into the sand.

everyone is obsessed with scoring but that means that they forget about defence! make up new stuff. dont do the same(hide in the base with the shotgun) thing. snipe defencivly. have fun gaurding. if everyone was on offence it would be called race...
