We all want the old days back. All we can do is post intelligently and hope for the stupid to leave.

It won't help. What we need is for a forum wide revelation that Spam is bad and complaining/posting in spam/posting about it isn't doing a damn bit of good. -blam!-. But you can't do too much or else people start accusing you of being a mod wannabe, or Achronos and Shishka start making threats and giving you "warnings" and just generally getting on your ass about being elitist. There have been many groups set up in the past that started with good intentions, but as time went on, the main reason for their formation was forgotten and the members of said groups started to become power hungry. For example, FIPA.

I can't really talk about FIPA right now. I'm still bitter.

As I said earlier, we as concerned members must unite under the common goal of restoring this forum. However, to do so, we must unite, and I have no idea how the hell that will work.

Well, normally, one would found a group devoted to bettering the forums. But the past has shown that the "All-Mighty Overlord" frowns upon such things. Therefore, all we can do is not spam and report spammers.

We all want the old days back.

Old days? What would you know of the old days? I was only on the forums for a few months before the new hotness, and let me tell you, after it hit, the intelligence dropped. Why not help the new people? I remember when most of you were new, and let me tell you, you guys were stupid too. So was I (just ask anyone who remembers my first post... I called maka a noob). New people arent the problem. Elitist assess not willing to accept new community members is.

Here's an idea. What if the forums were completely reset. Everything started over. It would equalize all, and possibly create a fresh start. New rules could be set up and punishments for violatiions of rules against spamming flaming, and whatever else could be made more widely known. This way the people currently causing these problems can see what they are doind is wrong and possibly change. I don't know if it would work. It's something that I just thought of.

In response to your statements, Ben. I was here, just not signed up. I first arrived in August of 03 when I reserved Halo 2 and when I began to really get obsessed with Halo. I am not being elitistic. I am all for educating the less intelligent members. There are plenty of intelligent new members and stupid older members. All I am saying is that I want something to change for the better. I wish that we could help in ways other than just posting intelligently and providing guidance(which we all need to do) to the other members.

By the way....................does anyone know how the MODs feel about this whole stupidity thing. I could almost say for sure that they don't want us talking about this, so this is my last post in this thread, but I just want Bungie. net to be a more enjoyable place for everyone again.

N/M. Every time I open my mouth and say something anti-admin, it lands my ass in Ban-land.

Le Mediocrity. It's fun when we win, and funny when we lose!

Ah, it's too bad. I just got here a few weeks ago, and I see flashes of greatness. But it seems like the crap from Zanzibar is slowly leaking in here. Even in the short time I've been here, I've noticed.

R.I.P. Halo Movie and all of the unseen awesomeness.

It all pooped out as soon as Halo 2 came out.

The madness of New Mombasa broke it's containment field... and became 3 new forums... but it still wasn't enough to contain them. I say leave it for a while, after the kids and idiots die down things will get back to a more normal state.

As for the Mods... my sources (well source) tells me they're off having "real lives" and most of them are doing schooling of some sort (ie college) and those that aren't are stuck working. Though I find this troubling as my source finds no problem balancing work and Bungie... 7 guesses who the source is :P

Oh, sorry about that. I thought you were talking about back when I joined and in the summer, but the time you are talking about was even better. I don't know why I didn't just join. I read all the posts here anyway. Ender.......what are you talking about! You haven't even been here a week. Unless you are someone who changed their name?

A week? I've been here longer than you my friend. Though not as long as many others. I didn't join the forums until after this became Bungie.net and not the Truth and Reconciliation. I was here before the New Hotness though.

I'm going to be completely honest with everyone here. I've been here longer all of you complaining about the downgrading of the forums, and I've seen the entire "New Hotness" life-cycle up to this point. After the new hotness, I have not seen the intelligence/spam level (whatever you want to call it) in all of the forums go up or down a whole lot. It has remained pretty much the same the entire time, and has only lessened during the weeks following Halo 2 (mainly ILOVEBEES) and the couple of weeks after Halo 2. Other than that, I have not seen a whole lot of difference throughout the last year or so. We aren't in some catastrophic Forum failure as some of you would like to believe, this is just the same old same old. You're beleiving in something that isn't there.

-My two cents

I'd agree... but I thought the spam went down a fair bit more than you give credit after the ilovebees thing... I was never into it, so my hitlist of annoying kids was in the hundreds... I felt like having a prewritten response to all the H2 threads that appeared in Underground... Hell I still do!

as an alternative option to reseting everything, I think bungie should mandate a 7 day probation to new users, this would help put to a stop the infamous "tub girl"and "free ipod" type shenanigans, and would also allow new members time to read the forum rules and see what happens when someone makes a mistake and then gets flamed, as we all have been at one point or another, but none of these systems will be put into affect, I just wanted to share my idea,
