Hey there, I'm having troubles hosting in Halo PC... I have these ports forwarded: 80, 2302, 2303. And have made sure they are open right. My friends have tried to join me hosting, my game doesn't show up on the list. I've tried a dedicated sever, v1.07, but it doesn't work either. They have also tried Direct IP and joining through X-Fire. Any help?

If your running a dedicated server and trying to join your own server it may notwork unless you either change the client port on halo pc to something else, or change the the port on the dedicated server. I am not a hundred percent positve but i think these two ports interfere.

Also if thats not the problem, I might be mistaken on what your trying to do, make sure the dedicated server have sv_public set to 1 I think in the init file. You could also try experimenting turning on and off firewalls to see if it's blocked. The only other problem I could think of is that your internet connection could possibly just not be strong enough.

I'm pretty sure that my internet is strong.

My client port is: 2303
My server port is: 2302

and I don't know what my dedicated sever ports are...
My init.txt is: (just for testing)

sv_name pwn_DS
sv_public 1
sv_mapcycle_timeout 10
sv_mapcycle_add bloodgulch ctf
sv_mapcycle_add timberland "team king"
sv_mapcycle_add damnation "team slayer"
sv_mapcycle_add dangercanyon ctf
sv_mapcycle_add carousel slayer
sv_mapcycle_add gephyrophobia slayer
sv_mapcycle_add infinity "classic rockets"
sv_mapcycle_begin

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Your config looks fine. Phone your ISP and ask if they block incoming traffic on port 2302, UDP.

Reality is just a crutch for people who can't cope with drugs.
X-Fire: new420

Make sure to put the rcon password in the init. I dunno if you just erased it for the board or what but thats what got my attention

ok once again i hadn't done this in a while so... im not like a hundred percent positive if your running halo pc and the dedi at the same time on the same computer. the ports may interfere causing one to block the other out.. try changing the server and client ports to something higher like 2305 and 2306. and then try it.

also see if on your router if either inbound / outbound policies are set to reject. if outbound is you cant host. and if inbound is the other players might not be able to connect.

I did block out the RCon for posting, I know it doesn't block inbound or outbound, because I can host on other games and I am running my dedicated sever while trying to play on Halo PC, it just doesn't show up on the list. I will try changing my Halo PC to high ports, and forward them. I'll report back. My ISP is Bell. But I can normally host, just not dedicated server, does it take different ports?

EDIT: Didn't work...

hmm yeah then for some reason your dedicated server is not making it to the internet check to see if the server is coming up under LAN

sometimes the IP adress you give to your friend is the IP adress for your LAN, and not the internet (like if it starts with 192.168, then it is wrong) use a website like whatismyipadress.com to find out your INTERNET IP adress, and use that.

sometimes xfire mixes it up too, so be carful
