I don't know if this has already been posted so, sorry if it has. But in the latest weekly update it said that you could hold 3 weapons at once (Frankie's Weekly Update 6/18):

"THIRD WEAPON!!!? WHATCHOO TALKIN ABOUT FRANKIE? Well, if you're holding a weapon in one hand, and you have another "holstered" you can dual-wield a third. That means the reserve weapon simply stays put when you pick up the dual-wield weapon. Effectively that lets you have three weapons at one time."

I'm glad that at least on mystery has been solved and we will have a little bit less topics asking this questioin. I think this is awesome and that it was a good idea, what do you guys think?

Maybe
I have always wanted at some times to hold 3 weapons but i liked the idea of having to make a choice and drop one to get another. i dont no if 3 weapons will have the same troublesome decisions about which weapon to pick up and what one to leave. but bungie won't put that in unless it is a good idea. so whatever bungie does i like

You could probably hold 4 weapons. Just have 2 smg's and 2 needlers, or plasma pistols. Bungie hasn't let us down yet, so i'm sure that they worked carefully to make sure that this idea will work.

If you count grenades as a weapon then nothing has really changed. If you want to be picky and count melee as a weapon then dual wielding makes you have less weapons.
I'm sure that Bungie can make dual wielding work well, if it's not balanced they'd probably change something about it so that it is.

Well, if you're holding a weapon in one hand, and you have another "holstered" you can dual-wield a third. That means the reserve weapon simply stays put when you pick up the dual-wield weapon. Effectively that lets you have three weapons at one time.
Now lets not blow this out of proportion folks. All this means is that when your holding a single-handed weapon, and you have another weapon in reserve, you can still pick up a "third" weapon to dual-wield with the first. That doesn't mean were going to be able to swap through 3 different weapons at any time. I would assume that when you are dual-wielding, and you have a weapon in reserve, and then you go to switch weapons, you drop whatever you are dual-wielding in your left hand. Does anyone understand what I'm trying to say?

No, most people don't seem to comprehend, like in the other three weapon thread, ya know, with mithrandir acting stupid.

im not trying to be rude or anything but how do we not comprehend i man when you have 2 weapons and pick up a 3rd(dual wield) you have three weapons and you switch between dual wield and 1 one-handed weapon or one 2-handed weapon and MAYBE you could have 2 sets of dual wield again that is a MAYBE

^^ LOL nice..

but yeah, I understand what he means, kinda makes sense in a realism sort of way too. I just hope that you wont be able to change back to the holstered weapon until you drop the 2nd (dual wielded) weapon. I would prefer it that if you're dual wielding, you only ahve the two guns (besides the grenades ofcourse) thus keeping it at 2 weapons all the time. But as everyone else on this thread says: if bungie can make it work, so be it

Edit: I'm talking about Supertoy's post, not HTES I doubt he knows what he's talking about

Alright, lets get things straight here. When you pick up a third weapon, you can't throw grenades or melee attack. Right? So if you melee attack or throw a grenade, you drop the third weapon. When you switch guns with Y, you Drop the third weapon. It would make no sense to hold the third weapon away when you are not using it, since MC has only one weapon holster. Understand? YOU CANNOT PUT BOTH WEAPONS AWAY!!!
